Forums - Sony - Rumor: New Persona Game At E3, Exculsive to PS3

Also as a note... Atlus reuses there engines... a lot.

They don't have the resources to keep building new ones.

As such i think it'd take more then a one time cash payout for a system to gain exclusivity since once they make one game.... i'd be surprised if they made games for another system this generation.

A Multiplatform game seems more likely. Which would make sense given the fact that we've heard nothing about the 2005 game.

You've spoke a lot of truth in this thread, to add on to this comment, they've made engines on the Wii already this gen and maybe (not sure cause I'm not sure if they're only the publisher or they also developed it) they have a 360 engine because of the zoids game.

They didn't make that one either.

They only published that Zoids game. On the Wii, they can just use the Trauma Center engine. Cheap and ready unlike the HD consoles. They also have DS and PSP engines but I'm not sure if they want to put a new Persona on a handheld.

I dunno. If Persona PSP does really well (over 100k first week according to preview) then I could probably see a PSP SMT.

I can see it now:  Persona 5: Scrubs

Part hospital romance simulator, part odyssey through the inner wilderness of the human body, with each organ a separate dungeon.

On the subject of the PS3, though:  I'll believe it when I see it.

I think they would bring over their SMT: Nocturne engine from the PS2 and do some upgrades before they use the Trauma Center engine for a SMT game...

I agree with the bolded though. I can see them continuing Devil Survivor and doing some remakes on the DS (SMT I&II), and possibly doing ports of their more recent games on the PSP, but I'm betting on their new projects being on a console.

Well I'm corrected then :P I don't keep up with Atlus 100% since the only thing I played that they made is Trauma Center.  But that series has introduced me to the Persona series which by the rabbid fanbase makes me think about trying one.

I don't know why people think Monster Hunter 3 is going to jump ship it's always been on Sony platforms!

The series has more games than you think...

@Skittles

Thanks...but I really can't find anything related to that :3 But I wish it were true, they should move on. I don't really mind if they stay PS2 for a while yet though but it'd be cool if they finally got into the current gen scene.

Though I think that guy made a good point in that thread.

"Sqnalkel said: But if they work closely with Sony, I mean if they're gonna be exclusive, they should at least get the second party treatment like Insomniac then maybe something like that could happen.

Atlus isn't exactly exclusive though, as they've already done a lot with Nintendo's consoles. (Especially the DS.)

Not to mention Atlus games just aren't mass market sellers. Even if they were backed by Sony, they just don't have the mass market appeal to make it worth it to Sony. It would be great if Sony would support more niche companies like Atlus, but that's just not how it works."

@Cactus

Eh...I guess. They can always make upgrades to the TC engine instead though since that's already ready and they wouldn't have to port it.

Maybe, but is the TC engine even a 3D engine ? They would probably have to do more work on that than it would take to port over the older engine.
