It's a twestern thread? And it's bagging on the PS3? Amazing!

Lol I'm going to love the responses here from MS defenders when they announce GS "Levels" at E3.
seriously, the two systems are so alike it's like comparing paw-paw to papaya.
get over it.

Proud Sony Rear Admiral
omg so fanboyism, i like way more the idea of an actual phisical trophy achievement, that just "points", which means nothing, it is better to have a platinum trophy than i dont know, 100G.
also, dont even get me started on how easy is just to copy folders on xbox 360, and unlocking achievements you didnt even earn to begin with.
On ps3 on the other hand, you have to earn them, you cant copy a file or that kind of crap

you can't do that on the 360 anymore. There is now software automatically in place that detects you didn't unlock the achievement and erases your entire gamerscore as well as perma-bans your console from LIVE.
Please everyone, allow me to gently smack some sense into your skulls because it seems you guys never learn. Always arguing over things that should be left to the companies, instead of having mutual respect and equal fascination in the games and capabilities on an opposing console.
Achievements and Trophies serve the same purpose, both make playing games more addicting, and both are easy to access (according to the PS3 owners in this thread). X360 is a bit ahead since it was created with achievements in mind and the PS3 wasn't. Remember guys, Sony JUST started to up their online capabilities and have come a far way in a short amount of time, just a bit more time and everyone will be equally happy. That said, the trophies physicality is certainly better/more appealing than mere numbers; however, that is my opinion.

It should say what the trophy phrase means when I push a button. When it doesn't do that, it is an inconvinience, and I probably will just forget the whole thing. It is an inferior design, and while it might not bother you that much, that still doesn't change the fact that one button is better than three plus loading times, when the result is exactly the same. Every other point is opinion. That one is not. Unless you want to argue that more time and effort to achieve the same thing is better than almost no time or effort.

Obviously it's the superior system. Since it'll tell you what trophy you unlocked without you even having to click any button. As it says so in the pop up box that notifies you you've even earned a trophy.
i still prefer trophies the sound and the look of them but i do agree with the gamer card not really feeling human
I think the X-Box dashboard looks kind of ugly so I prefer the XMB/trophies. I still think my aunt is uglier, though.

We already have TRUE achievements (see bottom gamercard)
How long before we have true trophies? (ie this trophy is actually worth bronze x3 or silver x2)

When you look at how much GS someone got for a specific game it is always displayed as a quotient. If you got to a thousand by playing DLC you would not be able to fool anyone into thinking you had gotten every achievement. They would see 1000/1250, or something like that. PS3 owners have been doing a lot of harping about the ease of checking someone's platinum count in this thread, but it only takes two clicks from your friend list to see the complete details about somebody's percent completion of every game. It's not hard to tell who actually completes games, and who plays early gen games with easy achievements. |
Yeah I'm sure you can check in a couple seconds how many games someone has completed when they have played over 50 of them.....
My gametag has 17 platinum and you don't have to browse through all the games I played to see that...
Check the gamercard of every Xbox360 fan posting on this thread, can you tell how many games they have completed ?
