LIVE gives an obvious edge in this case, but Sony does their own line of exclusive sports series.
I say: if you favor Baseball or Basketball, go with PS3. Anything else, go with 360.

Even then... no one has anything on 2k basketball.
The Show though is the best HD baseball series this generation though.
Still not as good as Powerful Pro series though.
360 is the way to go... if you plan to play a lot of online.

I was just in gamestop about two weeks ago, maybe a bit more, and some guy who had dragged his girlfriend into the store asked... "do they have The Show for 360?" And the gamestop employee said "nope, you're stuck with 2K9." And then his girlfriend bitchslapped him and walked out of the store!
Ok, I made up the last part, but still -- even I'm tempted to buy MLB: The Show '09, and I haven't played a baseball game since Tony Larussa Baseball on a 486 so many years ago. It's got a 90 percent metacritic average -- that's pretty insane for a sports game.
If you're actually into baseball as one of your top sports, 2K9 is supposed to be horrible. I also haven't played it, but I have a friend who hates it and I think is starting to hate me for owning a PS3 and not buying MLB: The Show.

This is definitely worth taking into consideration. Also worth taking into consideration is online. In that regard, I would say 360 takes it. So basically if you are more into single player or local multiplayer, get a PS3, if you prefer online play, get a 360.
Oh, and don't forget the Hot Shots Golf series, PS3 exclusive.
Edit: And don't some PS3 sport games take advantage of Sixaxis motion options?
2nd Edit: And how about Tennis...
"PS3 owners get the added bonus of having Rafael Nadal playable in their version. He looks the part and plays just as he should, even if his forehand animation isn't quite on the money. The fact that the PS3 version is the only place to recreate the Federer vs. Nadal matchup is a huge point of contention for tennis fans. Having the second-best player in the world on Sony's system makes that version the one to buy of the current-gen crop."

| CAL4M1TY said: EDIT: Lol at the people saying Wii for realism. Okay, console sports games will never fully replicate the real thing, no matter how good gameplay or graphics get. Wii's motion controls doesn't add a lot to realism. In golf, the wiimote can't simulate the different weights of each club, nor can it give feedback on impact or swing (as accurately as real life). In hockey, the wiimote can't simulate the weight of the stick, it can't simulate accurately the hook when hitting the puck (direction yes, but pinpoint accuracy no). In boxing, the wiimote can't give feedback on how accurate a punch is landed, in real life, a punch that doesn't land perfectly or is parried will mean you lose your balance, that's not the case with the wii and you in real life (that's why wii sports boxing is just a slug fest). That's exactly why most people who play wii sports boxing will continue to swing even though it's pretty clear that they're getting pummelled by their opponents, where as in say fight night, the second you have a hit landed against you, you'll try and defend. I've never played fifa or pes on the Wii, so I can't comment about them. |
i recemmend you Tiger Woods 2010 and Grand Slam Tennis presentations on gametrailers.
Well if you like baseball PS3 has MLB The Show 09 the baseball game out right now.

To answer the title, Wii. To answer your post, maybe the Xbox 360. While many people think that PS3 has the best baseball game, Xbox 360 has more and cheaper games. If you get Live, you will have more competition via 360 games, too.
