It is a bizarre dynamic isn't it.
I guess if the consoles were most focused on compatibility (especially forward compatibility) it would be different. What do you buy bullets for? what does that have to do with gaming? lol

they join Steam? that would be an amazing trade off |
Absolutely, Steam is great.
What if MS announced the ability to download every game for the 360 on your HD, over XBL? That would be a pretty significant upgrade to console gaming, would it not?
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.

lol, I buy bullets for my .454 Taurus Raging Bull, my Glock 40, and my 12 gauge Mossberg Persuader.
I said it because I shoot my bullets into the ground in my backyard.
If I, a working schmoe, can afford to spend 500 bucks on such a meaningless item as target ammunition, then why can't the average consumer be bothered to drop a couple hundred bucks on a mega gaming upgrade evry 5 years or so.
If cycles were shorter, and console were all BC/FC, then it would be much, much better for all gamers, imho. If we find a console we don't like (PS3, Wii, 360), we can just wait them out.
Also, new technology could be integrated very quickly.
I think Nintendo spoiled us for value with the NES and SNES. We feel as if we're entitled to decades of endless entertainment for a 200 dollar investment, when 200 dollars...isn't at all a lot of money.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
Okay titles like this shouldn't be allowed. Why couldn't you just put "What would be your reaction to MS announcing a new console at E3"
Then I could avoid the thread altogether instead of getting my hopes up and being disappointed.
I don't think them anouncing a console at e3 would be stupid move or will it hurt them and I don't think them launching a console by the end of this year will hurt them either, but I don't think that makes sense, 360 is on a roll right now and I think microsoft will want to give the 360 this whole year at least, before anouncing a new console at say CES 2010, but I think E3 2010 is more likely as it will give 360 more room for it's last big holiday push, I have read multiple reports that fall 2010 is likely the launch of the next xbox.
I say bring it on in 2010 Microsoft it will be 5 years since the 360 launch and that 4 year or too soon reputation microsoft have from the origional xbox will be thrown out the window and microsoft can continue with the typical 5 year console lifecycle.
^
I put the title like that because I think it would be a similar reaction to what would happen if they really did it.
People would be like, "no way.....really?" "This is a joke isn't it"
It just matches the tone of the post.

If that announcement came with a pricedrop for the 360, I'd buy one and as many games as I could. Just as soon as I got money. Valkyria Chronicles still gets first priority. Don't worry, Outlawauron, I haven't forgotten!
That would really be stupid of them.
Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. " thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."
I would lol @ all 360 fanboys and sale my 360 after i got and played MC II.

This really seems like another sad FUD campaign by desperate fanboys. Wishful thinking just like the $200 PS3 price cut.
