"Wii is a fad that lives under its controller. Will fade out in less than one year"

This epic fail quotes belong to Microsoft and Sony, some years ago, frustated at Wii's success and market leadership.

What will their speech - and the speech of supporters - be like if they reveal their wiimote rip-offs at E3 this year?

I'm so curious about that, and the reaction of the media also. I don't know how the marketing of both companies will be, but this might help a lot the Wii. The mainstream reaction may be like: "oh this controller is just like the Wii".

I may eat my words but I believe Microsoft and Sony will hold off until next gen to incorporate motion control like the Wii if they do at all (I could see it, but I'm also hoping one or both actually does something new and original even though they haven't yet since they started - i'm a dreamer)

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

Yeah, putting out motion sensing controllers this gen for them would be stupid, since its already too late to have a wiimote style controller as default for control scheme of every game.

But I will enjoy when they announce their motion sensing controllers. A bajillion "Sony rips off wiimote" and "Microsoft copies Nintendo" threads will appear from thin air lol.

I don't really care about a Wii Mote copy either way. I will be upset however if they do not include a regular controller with their next consoles. Don't get me wrong I have enjoyed playing wii games with its controller. I just don't want it to become the only way to control games.

Next gen you won't play anything then.

I'll be very disappointed but it's inevitable. It's coming, we might as well accept it. As for what they'll say, nothing, they'll just eat their words, see Sony putting rumble back in their controller after they said that was last generation.

I doubt FPS games will use Motion control...I don't see the reason for RPGs to do so as a main control scheme..Maybe action games and proly limited to certain games and/or events/aspects,Same goes for RTS games and Sandbox/openworld I doubt Madden would be Motion control based only...same goes for fighters....

The Sucsess of the Wii does not mean that the industry will shift to adopt these schemes as you can see for the most part they have not...

It'll be interesting to see how this goes, and the reaction.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Neither Microsft and Sony saw it ;)

Don't feel bad, even them failed at seeing it.
