Uncharted 2 doesn't look this good. There isn't a big gap between the first and the new one.
There is nothing on the horizon for a big "RAISE THE BAR and BLOW US AWAY" thing.

In 2001, it was Halo.

In 2006, it was Gears of War.

In 2008, it was Killzone 2.

In 20??, it will be... ?

No one can tell.

Actually...

In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may find...

They can run Crysis at a decent frame rate with sufficient detail to cause Sony fanboys to say it looks superior to Killzone 2 NOW.

graphics don't really sway me anymore to be real honest

Before we even get 10 responses, there's already unnecessary negativity...*sigh*

My answer would be there's a few I'm expecting to do this:

- Fight Night Round 4 in July
- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (possibly) in September
- Assassin's Creed II in November
- HEAVY RAIN in November

It's possible they'll be others, but I'm expecting these to do it

Hey CGI.

To be honest I think Graphics of the year will go to one of these.

Alan Wake

Splinter Cell Conviction

Forza 3

Ninety nine nights 2

Heavy Rain.

To be honest I dont get the whole Uncharted 2 amazing thing. It looks like the first to me. And to be honest I think KZ2 screenshots and video blow Uncharted 2 away.

For me, something on PC.  Some current games on console have been very great looking but I am almost always blown away first by PC games.

The technical achievements that could have wowed me have passed already. It'll take a game with a distinct and awe inspiring art style to really grab me. Otherwise I'm sure something next generation will blow me away. Last generation, Soul Calibur really took me by surprise, and then near the end of the generation, the art styles of Okami and Odin Sphere did the same. The closest another game came to wowing me technically last gen would probably be Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.

No game will ever have the capability to even impress me anymore. Technology has come so far that I know longer get awe at the possiblities, now I awe at what is not possible.

I think the only thing that could blow me away is piece on earth. Otherwise, real magical abilities, teleportation, and any other idea most people see as impossible, I see as natrual evelution. The only limits we have are those that we believe in. Take away belief, and open the doors to a new world.

For me I'm going to say Uncharted 2, looks amazing.

But I have another question, I haven't been paying much attention to the PC games, and the PC usually has a graphics juggernaut trump card around the corner, so is there one coming out on the PC that will top Crysis?

None, games with ''fantastic graphics'' are usually poor on the gameplay side....

Good graphics is just a marketing showcase... gaming is about gameplay....

KZ2 graphics are good but the gameplay is soooooo standard...

An other example is Assasin Creed... incredible graphics with incredible boring-repetitive gameplay...

I'm very prudent with games being hyped by their graphics (it is like that this the 16-bit era....).

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Ok, im going to be evil and say this:

The next game which will truely blow anyone away, not that fake orgasm crap PS3 fans like to pull is probably going to be a PC game.

You will probably be disappointed, then.  PC developers need the coding knowledge of Sony's 1st and 2nd party developers (truly multi-threading their code).  I predict worse animations (which is a being part of graphics), etc than PS3 for PC games for the rest of this year at least.  Of course, I expect better textures; but, as some people have said on other websites, Uncharted 2 is texture-zilla.  Procedural textures is a HUGE win for the PS3.  I know God of War 3 will be using it in some capacity.  I wonder if Uncharted 2 is using this as well.  If not, PS3 and PC textures should pretty much be on par.

BTW, Uncharted 2 or Heavy Rain should be the next game to push graphics a bit forward in games (depending on which one of these come first).
