1 more thing... the last battle...damn I don't think I'll ever had to face someone sooo damn easy I killed him in 4 mins and my character armor/stats sucked when I faced him. I actually cried beacuse he was so easy.

Really now. You managed to beat him that fast in spite of two types of Palings, an Absolute Defense, and him having more health than any non-hunt enemy boss in the game - even with crappy "armor/stats"? Do tell me your secret: I'm pretty sure it took me longer than that even when I beat the game at level 65. After killing Fafnir.

OK, I can agree with this definition of underrated. What I really meant here is that people on the Internet seem to be in majority in saying that FFXII is a piece of crap that shouldn't have existed (or something drastic like that), or that it shouldn't be considered a Final Fantasy game.

This is absurd thinking. o_O

@outlawauron: I saw the videos. Even if it looks a bit like in Chrono Trigger, it's still not instantaneous.

I've played the game..........

Yes? I believe the videos have been taking from the actual game as well? I still don't get your point (from that last thread you made as well).

The flash of light is just hiding a 1-2 second load time.

I don't think there was anything wrong with FFXII, except Vaan being the main character. It would've been perfect had Balthier or Ashe been the main character, and Vaan more of a support character.

Personally, FFXII is my favorite, and this thread just reminded how awesome it is, and now i'm gonna go ahead and play a second play through.

I'm glad to see Khuutra is trying as hard as he can to defend this little underrated gem. I'm also glad to see we share the exact same opinion about every aspect of the game.

This is the evolution the series needed. Sadly, FFXIII is going back to being a battle to battle screen transition RPG. Yippeee!...

But the transition itself is an illusion. It just zooms in and then zooms out. The backgrounds and enemies stay the same, you see a bar pop up in the bottom of the screen and the music changes.

If I recall from watching the demo videos, that isn't true.

Once the character "agroes" an enemy group and the battle screen loads, party characters and enemies are re-positioned. It appears to use the same geometry and backgrounds as the "field" but it re-arranges the parties.

The "battle screen" is still a separate area.

As for FF12, I've always heard Basch and Ashe were intended to be the main characters until they got scared there was no angsty teen which sent them shivering back to the drawing board.

I like FFXII a lot, really fun and addictive to play, I just finished all the hunts and I got most of the powerful weapons so there's not much left for me to do (but I clocked over 150 hours into that game).

The problem with it was the story and the characters. Final Fantasy games are known to have these inspiring characters that you get very attached to, or a story that'll blow your socks off. But Final Fantasy XII lacked both. The Fun factor in FFXII was great, actually probably better then the best Final Fantasy games, but the story was boring, I wasn't really rooting for anyone to win, or cared, and I hated the main character Vaan, seriously why was he the main character again? Usually I love the main character from every FF game but not this one. My favorite was Balthier.

This.

@Naum the last boss was very easy, I found it hard to get to though

lol, I know! @_@

Still not instant (I just said it's kind of like Chrono Trigger).

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

I remembered a review I wrote up of the game shortly after I stopped playing it, actually.

http://www.skyrender.net/ff12_review.txt

I'm sure some of it will be scoffed at as short-sighted or missing the point by fans and defenders of the game, but keep in mind, this is the impression I got from simply trying to play the game. I was not trying to "master" it, I was not doing anything to "figure it out", I was just doing what made sense to me, as a long-time RPG player who had (and still has) no interest in MMORPGs. And this was the impression it left me with, a lot of the negativity stemming from the gameplay doing its damnedest to make me hate the game.

Oh, and on accusations of Star Wars similarity, I noticed a fair bit of it too.  The music doesn't help, particularly not the piece that sounds almost like a slight variation of the Sarlaac Pit theme.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

Sky, it's very hard to take a review seriously when you did not beat the game!

Ah, but I did beat the game. I would think the end of the story section of the review makes that painfully clear...

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

Sky, I am very embarrassed and wish to apologize for my hasty assumptions!

Though this makes certain parts of your complaints even weirder.
