Forums - Gaming - Shadow of the Colussus or ZELDA Twilight princess?

I would have to try Shadow of Colossus..Where i can buy it cheap in Eu..

Having played both I'm going to say I enjoyed SotC more than Zelda: TP. SotC is repetitive in its gameplay as in the only thing you're doing is killing the Colossi with nothing in between but a bunch of running around. The Colossi however all present different challenges really mixing up the gameplay.

Zelda provides a ton of variety with different items and unique bosses and caves but it just didn't click with me. I think I got annoyed with the lack of proper voice overs (read: annoying sounds for voices... and those friggen monkeys near the beginning. argh!).

Both are great but I'd have to give the nod to SotC. It truly is something different and should be experienced by everyone. Love the music and atmosphere like many others have mentioned.

SOTC easy for me. Very easy. Twilight Princess was probably my least favorite Zelda I've ever played because of the controls. As is the reason most Wii games fail miserably for me, because they force motion controls on you. There should be an option to use a classic controller, and definitely for a game like Zelda.

I could have played it on GameCube, but the 'mirror image' map was retarded to me. Not to mention we only had it for Wii anyway..

Now had you said; A Link to the Past, Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time - I think all 3 of those are better than SOTC (no disrespect to SOTC). I loved SOTC, and still do. But those 3 Zelda games are 3 of the best games of all time for me, not just in the Zelda series.

Twilight princess easily. Sotc was an incredibly boring and overrated game. Good Story? There really was no story until the very end. You spent most of your time riding an unresponsive horse. There was no collection of items or dungeon exploration. The boss battles consisted of you climbing up a giant and stabbing its weak spot. Why didn't the boss just grab you and crush you in its hand? Basically Sotc is Legend of Zelda with a boss battle mode.

Twilight Princess is my least favorite 3D Zelda game... which puts it above just about everything but every other 3D Zelda game and Shadow of the Colossus, which is my 2nd favorite game last gen.

Both are definitely great, but there are better Zelda games out there, and not a better Team Ico game. Get Wind Waker and Majora's Mask.

Edit: Btw metalmonster is a good example of someone who's never played Shadow of the Colossus but posted in this topic anyway. The controls take getting used to, but what Shadow of the Colossus is is a puzzle/platformer. The challenge of the game is figuring out how to beat the bosses.

Haven't played TP, but I doubt it can top SotC since it's awesome and easily one of the best games ever for the PS2. Get it, you won't be disappointed. Everyone should play SotC at least once, it's an experience no other game offers

Twilight Princess, by a small margin. It's personal preference, clearly. The important thing is that you play both games, they are both fantastic.

Ok heres the difference

SotC is an awesome experience in killing big monsters. Everything in between seriously sucks. Some might like riding through a large landscape of nothingness, but seriously it's a drag. Some of the Collosi are a major pain to get to. The controls are fairly unintuitive, but you do get used to them after a while. The story is like a grim fairy tale and a rather negative ending.

Zelda:TP it's Ocarina of time epic style. But like Ocarina the gameplay isn't as fluid as WW. Unlike SotC the landscape isn't useless barren landscape, but it's filled with useless stuff. Constant mini fights add to the attacked landscape, but in contrast nothing makes sense. Bad guys wonder the lands but theirs no one but the player to fight them? WW and Ocarina the game felt more encouraging to explore where TP seems to feel a push to rush through the game.

Comparing the two Zelda is about the Dungeons while SotC are about the Bosses. Zelda Bosses while interesting seriously suffer from dull pattern syndrome, really Zelda is about the Dungeons. Zelda should base their bosses off SotC. I would suggest playing Zelda first and continue to look for SotC. That way the experience compliments each other and Zelda bosses won't be so much a let down.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

shadow of colossus, it was epic (BIG bosses)yet still have a strong story, it was original and have a great music.

Zelda:TP, was a mix of ocarina and windwaker, most of the things come from those games.

even ganondorf last sword fight was almost exactly the same windwaker one.
