Forums - Nintendo - I just don't get it. Why won't Nintendo make another FPS for the Wii?

Seeing as Nintendo themselves (1st party developers) have only developed one "traditional" FPS (traditional in the sense of Halo/Doom/etc.) in their 100+ year career, I don't see why the reasoning for this phenomena would be "they're not hardcore enough/their new casual appeal/etc.". It could be... could be that they've never been that sort of developer to begin with.

(NST developed Metroid Prime: Hunters if anyone was wondering.)

P.S. @BHR-3 - I'm a little bit scared by your comment about "relating" to fighting games and wanting to do what they're doing on TV...

@BHR-3 For what it's worth, I agree with what you said about RE UC, RE DSC, and Dead Space. They really can't compare to the real games that they've been spun off from for the Wii audience. The Wii is certainly becoming the console to own if you like light-gun shooters (which I kind of do). But at the end of the day I'm glad I have a 360 I could play RE5 on.

I'm waiting for the Mario FPS where you run around as Mario and Yoshi shooting Fireballs and Eggs while enemies like Hammer Bros. and Boomerang Bros. throw stuff at you.

If Nintendo found a way to make an FPS as a mass market game, they would do it. Just need someone at Nintendo to get an idea how.

But don't expect it to be like a typical FPS, anymore than Wii Sports is like a typical sports game.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

I don't think some genres will ever be mass market worthy.  Call of Duty 4's 11m+ sales is pretty impressive for the genre though.

Not in the typical form, but if there is a way, Nintendo will find it.

I think they should put retro studios to do some and make monolith to help them with the story. Im talking about a new IP

Well if you count perfect dark and golgenye theyre 3 well and jet force gemini but it was a third person but you're right anyways this people are not in nintendo anymore. But i think retro studios is very capable of doing so.

Doesn't "Link's crossbow training" have a FPS level?
