Forums - Nintendo - I just don't get it. Why won't Nintendo make another FPS for the Wii?

You should ask yourself one question first:

What would Nintendo gain by producing FPS games?

They would gain PS3 and Sony fan base is what! They wouldn't want to play Resistence or Halo or Gears anymore if they could throw banana peels and turtle shell at their enemies! Does Halo allow you to do that? NO! Just Bullet or Lasers!

The PS360's will be very refreshed NOT to have blood and gore in their games and to be able to run around in colorful environments too! They are sick of gray, dirty worlds without Rainbows and Sparkles!

Aren't they?

(Actually, I would by the game).

Azeover hit it on the head. However Nintendo could do a FPS in their own unique way. They have of course with MP 1-3 but also a Mario Paintball game would rock and sell millions as well while catering to both casual and core.

So I wouldn't discount the possibility but I certainly wouldn't expect a Wii version of Halo/Killzone aside from The Conduit.

I want Mario Paintball!!!!!!

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I really don't see how Metroid Prime is Zelda in first person... Metroid in first person would be a much better description really. I think it's very different to Zelda in feel, presentation and gameplay.

FPS games are too hardcore
Wii focuses on E rated games

@JUG

It is a First-Person Adventure that's why. It is focused more on puzzles than real shooting well mp3c not that much but in echoes they put a lock on to make it more focused on adventure and puzzles.

I have purchased 2 Shooters from Nintendo in my life Duck Hunt, and Links CrossBow Training - the first because it came with Super Mario Bros and the second because it came with the Wii Zapper (which make MOH2 so much funner) and they were both awesome games.

But the simple fact of the matter is FPS games are not for Fun they are for Competition, and Nintendo dosn't make competitive games for males 18-25 to compare their virtual penis sizes in, they make fun games.

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

Good perspective.

We may see a Retro game at E3 and I think it's likely we'll see an NST game so we could see a FPS from Nintendo but as people have already explained.. Nintendo + shooter from EAD wouldn't be compatible with their philosophy..

Unless it was Starfox or MARIO PAINTBALL!!!!

No major 3rd party support for FPSs + kids, soccer moms, and old folks don't want to play these games.

So you answered my question.  Nintendo would gain a userbase of a small elite and outspoken gamers.

So with that answer, what would the lose by using their development studios to produce these games?
