Forums - Sales - Xbox 360 dominates the holidays, PS3 dominates the quiet quarters?

I didn't say they would... I say they would be well placed... Now that could be some blockbuster games or price cuts or a new slim model perhaps... I am just saying that they will make sure they are right in consumers faces in November and December.

I feel that it was very clear to MS that Modern Warfare 2 is going to Vacumm the most sales for the 360 in November so They did a very smart thing in having ODST ready for about the same time....We have to wait for E3 but the should have something else for december...But it's clear that on the 360 MW2 and ODST will generate the highest sales this holiday season....But who knows....I highly doubt a new Gears of War With the exception of the rumored "Dark Corners" DLC Which would also be a very smart move to keep the 360 fanbase enganged....As for the sales of the PS3...it is gaining alot of momentum but not quite in the states.....PS3 still has alot to go to shorten the gap...and while it seems to all of us that a PS3 price cut is looming for this holiday season...I doubt that MS would just let themselves be Steam rolled....Also MS is making Bundles left and right...Expect another Big Bundle for this Holiday season...

It helped more at the end of the year due to the large numbers of price concious shoppers. During the year though, its more the mainline SKUs being sold and the proportion of people who say want a PS3 more than an Xbox 360 at almost any price is higher. If the price gap stays the same or even if the price is cut for the PS3 quite drastically what im saying is that we won't see the real results until the year after, say 2010 Q1-4 as the Xbox 360 would still be cheaper during this price concious phase.

Great points, I was going to make a thread to get peoples opinions on what pricecut was more effective Xbox 08 or PS3 07.

This christmas I feel that tables won't turn like they have been and the 360 will rule once again. Sony's recent comments lead me to believe no pricecut is coming this year whatsoever. Everything points to no price drop, nothing points TO a price drop.

I really can't see Microsoft taking their eye off the ball now, hence why I think a BIG E3 is planned.

EDIT - Also with Microsoft looking to win each christmas, this is where I think they will bulk up the lead each year.

Surely that's exactly what a pricecut-planning Sony wants? If people know it's coming, they'll hold off on a purchase and if it comes completely out of the blue then it has a much bigger impact.

nice, I agree squill ..... as always
