How long is it going to be before we start seeing lots of custom maps? Some of the servers that I play HL2:DM on have several dozen maps, and it sure adds a lot of variety to the game.

I was thinking about getting OrangeBox for Portal. I loved TFC back in the day, do they still have that mode where one team attacks and the other team is on defense and as the offense gets to checkpoints the defense respawn keep getting pushed back and back? Oh man I loved that game, being the sniper on defense and then being the only one left alive trying to keep the attacking horde at bay until your teammates get back to the front lines... some of my best gaming moments. :D

Yes, eab, they still have that mode. Dustbowl is such a map, as is GravelPit, though on GravelPit there are 3 points, and 2 points are unlocked for Blue to capture at first...once those are captured, you can capture C.

Hydro is a capture map, but the 2 opposing control points are always unlocked...it's just a matter of breaking through either team to capture. Well and Granary have locking control points, but you can unlock them by capturing the previous point.

And 2Fort's a CTF map.

Dunno if that helps, but I'm craving TF2 now, so bye.v

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

*reads Kenobi's post....*

*runs to best buy*

Entroper: I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels the same way about that map. One thing I hate about mirror maps (2fort Well Gran) is when your team goes all Defensive with Engies and all then theres really no chance to win. either lose or Sudden death.

Hydro is a map I want to look into more. Right now I have no idea what I'm doing or where I'm going lol

crappy old school NES games are more entertaining than next-gen games.

That does happen far too often on granary and 2fort.  Something needs to be done about those engies...

:P bit late, but add me if u wanna steam id is thejon8

Hey, if we're adding steam ID's here.....

Mine is epsilon72. I'm not on every day, but I play either HL2:DM or TF2 often.

(note: if you add me and try to send me an invite that I don't respond to, it might mean I'm running in linux rather than windows - the friend thing doesn't work in linux yet)

The problem with the mirror maps is the same problem TFC had, people don't like to die. You die less on defense, so people turtle up. Me, I don't care how many times I die as long as I complete the objective. :) But that's why maps like Dustbowl and Gravelpit work so well, because it forces people to be on offense. It also creates larger battles -- a balanced 2fort game would have 6v6 in one base and 6v6 in the other base, but a Dustbowl game is 12v12 at the control point.

I'd like to see some custom maps that aren't control point maps, or maybe even a more dynamic setup with control points.  Something like King of the Hill where your team earns points by holding the control point for a certain length of time.  Or maybe something similar to Canalzone from TFC, where you can capture any of 5 control points at any time.

I am playing ze game!
