is AC2 commin out this year?
@ Akvod
Get over it......seriously. Rarely do I call someone out like this but you are throwing an absolute temper tantrum over a change in gameplay. If you don't like it than don't play it. If you want to complain about it make a thread doing so. But you are spamming the living crap out of this thread about gameplay from 2 years ago and you know nothing about the game. This thread is about the announcement of it coming out this year. Its fine if you say your not looking foreward to it but just leave it at that.

Splinter Cell, like all games, evolves over time. You don't see MGS, Resident Evil and other franchises always having the exact same gameplay as the previous entries into their franchise. The core gameplay of course is always the same, and It doesn't look like thye are going to cut out stealth at all. They are simply making it so that if your detected, you don't have to restart as often, at least this is what I'm gathering from the interviews from 2 years ago.
Heck, for all we know Fisher may shave his beard after the first level or wear a clown costume. Considering there is practically no recent details on this game, I say we wait for E3 to assume anything other then that its Splinter Cell.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.
You guys keep calling me out, but you guys never answered the same questions I asked every time. I've given you the 2 clips of the gameplay. Please tell me any similarities between the two styles of gameplay, to show that it indeed did evolved. ONE thing, that's similar.
I, of course, don't want to have the same exact thing happen everytime. In retrospects, there were a lot of wrong things in the original Splinter Cell, and the reason why I loved Chaos Theory is because they evolved, and changed the gameplay for the positive.
So one last time, and please answer this one question before you accuse me of being irrationial: Where in the two game play videos (assuming that they are going for a similar social stealth game in Convictions), can you show me that the gameplay EVOLVED from the past 4 games. Please point out ANY similarities.
What I saw in the Convictions video that I posted:
1) Sam being detected, and going toe to toe with a enemy with his fists and objects.
2) No Light and Shadow, but instead the "hiding in plain sight" philosophy of social stealth.
3) Shitty ass Bourne music
The worst argument I heard, when I used to lurk in the Convictions forum was that "Oh, they replaced the shadow with crowd!".
If I am so irrational, and not accepting of an evolution in gameplay, then please show me one similarity that indicates that the past 4 games were an ancestor of Convictions.

1) We have yet to see any OTHER fighting videos of Splinter Cell Conviction.
2) We have yet to see MORE of Splinter Cell Conviction
3) We have yet to HEAR more of Splinter Cell Conviction
Stop basing everything off of one video made in '07. I wish I could show you the similarities in gameplay, but sadly, I have yet to have seen pretty much ANYTHING of Splinter Cell Conviction. Also note that every take down he did on someone was on a practically unarmed guard. I bet that you can't pull that stuff on the ARMED guards.
I hated Pandora Tomorrow and loved Chaos Theory. Shadows and lighting and most importantly the Stealth Guage are all Splinter Cell's core gameplay. If they take THAT out, I'll believe that this isn't Splinter Cell. Until then...

You've completely avoided my question with the assumption that there'll be nothing similar about the final form of Convictions and the video I showed. You, with no evidence, assume that Convictions will be a traditional L/S game. I with evidence, which is the last thing we saw from Convictions, am assuming that the gameplay will be somewhat similar to what we saw, and will at least be a social stealth game. And due to the story direction they took with Double Agent, they indeed will go with the Bourne theme.
So, again, do you agree that if Convictions come out in a form similar to the clip we saw, that it indeed will be a total rape of the gameplay? I still leave out a tiny bit of hope that they'll make it a L/S game, or that they at least put in a element of L/S (You can go into a "stealth" mode, like AC's "active" mode), but based on the most reliable evidence, I am assuming that it won't.
I hope to god that they do make it a L/S game. I can get an 360 a few years later when I get a job and buy the Arcade (which should be $99 in a few years IMHO) and play this game, or who knows, they might port this game to the PS3. But until we get more new info, I'm standing by the info we have so far, and am pessimistic.
