And thats why I dont take anyone on this site seriously, most of them just love to hate Sony and PlayStation, but whatever have your fun, Sony knows what they're doing and doing a damn fine job, even if the PS3 doesnt win this gen, Sony will always be remembered by the revolutionary PS1 and PS2, something that only MS and Nintendo wishes they could achieve, and Nintendo couldnt achieve the sales they have today without the casual market

Last in total userbase.

Current sales level: last and trending downwards.

Sony is bleeding money.

Seriously, you have to be pretty delusional to consider that "doing good". Specially when you consider it's been eating profits from both the psp and the ps2 for over two years since as a whole SCE loses money.

By the way, about revolutionary... man, you got to be pretty young. Nintendo has been settling trends in this industry for decades, even Sony's current practices mimic Nintendo's. Not saying Sony hasn't changed/standarized anything, but Nintendo's legacy is quite heftier. Your beloved dual-shock is nothing but a design iteration on top of Nintendo's.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

congrats. Now its to surpass the xbox and then beyond!!

And your 360 pad is also of that...

A lot of people doubted the PS3 very early on tbh. Not talking about this site, but there was a poll on another forum late 2006/early 2007 asking would the PS3 pass 10 million, most people voted no. But I dont know, they probably just idiots.

But it doesnt really matter, the PS3 IS doing well, its just when you compare it to the other 2 its not doing so well, but it is right behind the 360 at double the price, Sony needs to announce it for $300 at E3 to spark things up.

It was doing sub 100k NPD's. That's below 25k/week. Japanese sales were bleak as well (below 10k/week).

If Sony hadn't slashed the price by 200$ there wouldn't be a ps3 now.

It was a 100$ Price cut because the 600$ 60GB model got slashed to 500$ and the 40GB came in at 400$ (Replacing the LAUNCH 20GB 500$ PS3 ) EDIT : And by your logic, The most recent 360 price cut was from 450$ to 199$? As Elite WAS 450$ (Now 399$) and Arcade WAS 250$ IIRC (Now 199$) So by your logic, that's a 250$ price cut

"My point: you can say that Sony is losing money with its game division. But saying that the PS3 by itself "is going to lose them money" is unproven, most likely false."

PS3 loses are greater than it's game division because it can be assumed that the PS2 & PSP are making a profit. That's certainly been the case for 3-5 years now. Therefor the PS3 losses are so great that it's probably beyond the point that it's possible to make up in the future. The only way Sony could come out ahead is by making big profits on Blu-Ray. (which is doubtful)

Unlike you I don't go over such lengths to justify my purchases. Which begs the question, why are you pumping Sony like that? Do you need to justify your purchase?

@blazinghead: yeah and the ps3 is 4d capable thanks to the cell, that's why it should be compared in sales with the 360's 2008 and from such an statement it emerges as an inescapable truth that all publishers should be making ps3 exclusives since it has sold more units than the 360.

It's been argued to death, that's why I don't ever need to cook up an answer: because the availability of the Arcade, Core and Elite SKU's isn't comparable to the availability of the 20gb and the sales share of the cheaper ps3 SKU compared to it's pricier siblings. /yawn.

I dont justify my purchase, but getting back to the original topic, its when say PS3 is doing bad - but it isnt, only comparing it the other two consoles.

If it was Nintendos console or MS's, you'd be saying the same thing.

Gamecube still has a better library than the PS3, 360 and Wii combined... so whatever.

LOL, I'm pretty sure 99% of all console gamers would disagree with you.
