Yeah, the top high-end cards always cost ~$600/€500 at launch. It's been like that for a decade.

Only once did I fall for it. In Spring 2006 I payed €600 (~$700) for a ATI X1900XT, and it wasn't even the worst of them all (the 1900XTX was, and cost $100 more).

LOL i paid the extra $100 for the XTX for the little gain over the XT.. what a waste of money

Im still using that same video card though.  I spent $500

^hehe. But it felt good to open the box, to feel the card, and then plug it in.

it didn;t feel good when the VISA bill came. The first game i played with it was oblivion.. big difference from the 7800gtx i had before that

Oblivion, same here!

But u sure it was the 7800GTX before it? The 1900XTX wasnt that much faster than the 7800GTX that u'd notice it from what I can remember.

yea i def had a 7800gtx.. id say the x1900xt was 25% faster in oblivion

I wasn't happen if i couldn't max all of my games out and run a decent frame rate.  oblivion was pretty hardware demanding

True. ATI R600 had great performance in Oblivion.

Its to bad though PC gamming as gone complely down hill from there and i switched over to console that ironicly is based off the r600.. Ha can;t get away from that card

$400 and you kill AMD.. $600+ and you've pretty much killed yourself, nvidia.

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.
