This isn't a victory in any way for pro waterboarders I want to make that clear.

But basically Russia are a horrible country, they have extremely bad human rights ethics and their torturing needs to stop. As well as all torture, but let's fry the big fish first.

But I'm going to say something along the lines of what Akuma said, but in a different context.

Saying you are good on human rights because you are better than russia is like saying Hitler was a loveable friendly character because he killed less people than Stalin. It's just not true no matter which way you put it.

Waterboarding is still torture

what ta hell? have u ever lived in russia?

No, but it's not exactly a secret that Russia used to do some extremely dodgy things up until only a few years back.

yes ppl r trying to survive there .... but they still love their country.... i dont care where youre from that dosent give you the right to say things like that if you dont have the slightest idea and you havent experienced it first hand...

Soooo...basically choosing the lesser of two evils makes you okay?

If you read the last quote from the Russian soldier, you would wonder who REALLY is the terrorist...you have to wonder who is really killing the children and using fear to get what they want.

In a sense, once you need to use torture to get what you want and need...you already have become the terrorist.

And for the geeks who still don't get what I am saying...take Star Wars as an example...once Luke Skywalker needed to join the Dark Side in order to combat his father, the Emperor and basically evil itself, he realized that he became no better than they were. (I hope that helped out a bit...

This is like saying, well yeah we burned down the house but that guy burned down the house and the garages so we are not as bad right?

To put it in perspective, more like "My dog just pooped on his lawn, that other guy burned his house down."

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.
 — Pat Buchanan – A Republic, Not an Empire

Sami al-haj wasn't just waterboarded , I watched him talking about what the American soldiers did to him and the fun part is:
"u were brought here by mistake , u can leave now"
hasn't aljazzera translated it yet?
it's a must see

jeez, I'm not knocking it, i'm sure Russians are lovely people, I know a few and they are very pleasent.

What I am knocking is the shit the government have done in the past. I mean

you try to deny that Stalins forced famine killed 7,000,000 people

you try to deny that in 1929 5,000 of Ukraines best scientists and scholors were sent to prison camps to be tortured,

you try to dent that Stalin killed 23,000,000 people.

you try to deny that they have never tortured people.

Here is a link with the top ten worst Russian torture methods... It's pretty sick

How dare you say that none of this has happened, when it is notorious for happening!!!!!

--edit--

Oh yeah, number 4 on that list is waterboarding

I dint say none of that happends.... Your generization makes me mad though... choose your words more carefully

"But basically Russia are a horrible country, they have extremely bad human rights ethics"

Now this is what I'm talking about! Really people the US has nothing to compare with in re 2 terrorist treatment.

@antfromashkent - I didn't mean Russians are horrible. But I think the genocide of 23,000,000 people and the forced starvation of 7,000,000 people pretty much back up my claims of poor human rights history...

I'm sorry if I offended you and I didn't mean all Russians o=are evil by any means. But from a lot of peoples perspective Russia has a poor human right track record.

well thats ok then.... i guess all germans are still nazzis.... all the white people are still biggots.... way to go!! you win!

It is funny how it is easy to be kind or heartless to people we have never seen or heard in the real world on the internet, yet act in an opposite and contrary fashion in real life.
