Forums - Sony - will u buy the psp2 if its "download only" for getting your games?

For me it would depend on what advantages it has over the current PSPs.

Significantly cheaper price
Significantly improved battery life
Dual analog nubs
Sliding screen
Touch sensitive screen
Significantly cheaper games
Exclusive games

I personally prefer having physical media, but I'm well aware of the UMD's inferiority so if the new PSP has 4 of the above 7 things then I will probably buy it.

I think that they would be better off doing a sd card game type of thing. The games come on a locked sd card and then could be put on the PSP2 if wanted.

If I was Sony with the PSP2/4000;

I would work a deal with retailers that allowed them to sell codes for downloading games. Then I would make it so that those with bad internet connections could download it in the store. If the user has a PS3 at home, they can back the game up to the PS3's HDD, if not they will have to return to the store to hop on PSN and re-download.

No unless games are below 10 euro.

I don't think there will be a download only PSP2.

Because it means everyone who doesn't have a credit card (a lot of people, think children) can't buy games, or will have more trouble buying games.

How do you offer a downloaded game for christmas?

How do you convince a retailer to sell systems but not games?

No... definitely I think it would be a REALLY bad move to have it download only.

Download will be an option, like right now.
They'll drop the UMD for something like memory sticks, but read only.

Anyway, I have a credit card and I don't expect games for christmas, so I'd buy it.

That would work a lot better then the stupid UMD's. Should have been that way from the start imo.

I think that they should have been like that also to begin with, but it might have been too expensive at teh time as sd cards were more expensive a few years ago. Or they just could have used cartridges like Nintendo, but they tried something with the UMD that could have taken off. The only thing is that it didn't. Oh well.

Even though the UMD isnt as successful, i give props to Sony for always trying new things (like they did with MiniDisc), you never really know how successful something can be until you try it out.

I would really prefer it if Sony would still release UMD games along with a download code off PSN (lets say its printed on the actual UMD disc so people can still download it if purchased used even if the box was lost).

I enjoy the feeling of the actual product to know where my money went to and i like to build up collections.
