Nowhere to hide from the truth here... PS3 on its arse in the States.

Oh and can we stop with all the Wii doomned threads now please...

Just shows how unrepresentative and Japan really is.

Wii is doomed in Japan !

Anyway, pretty low PS3 numbers in the West. Only the incredible Japan numbers redeemed it.

Agreed, NA number gap is sad, it will be interesting to see what happens this week as Japan number dies down.

@reasonable...

I dont agree. Japan IS unrepresentative. The much larger markets of the US and Others are much more in line with the worldwide trend. Japan is utterly different than the global market and to say it isnt is kind of ridiculous.

Clearly the current WW trends seem to show:

  • 360 showing steady growth
  • Wii still dominant but slowing a little
  • PS3 dipping YoY

And I see where you're coming from in this trend is clearest in US/Others but this has been driven by changes in each market rather than anything consistent, and could easily be impact by each market going forward (Japan included so far as I can see, just looking at the impact of the FF demo) therefore I hesitate to simply remove Japanese market from consideration or see it as of minimal import anymore.

For example, with FF still exclusive in Japan and GT still to hit I could see Japan (slowing sales notwithstanding) give the PS3 a huge boost globally and make up for a lot of the 360 advantage in US.

I still see Others going either way - could start to favour PS3 as the old favourites start to get released, or 360 lower price and fairly similar catalogue could hold the PS3 off.

US seems all about 360 for HD with PS3 struggling on price, which is the root of much of the PS3 dip

So again, I'm saying I don't think there is a clearly representative market - and so long as any one market can make a difference it is not irrelevant either.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

How about you start a PS3 beats 360 for a week thread and keep the thread on topic discussing the American numbers. 44k in the US is not good numbers regardless of the other regions situation.

let's make "360 is doomed" threads , troll and stealth troll it we may not have a week like this one till next year :D

FFXIII launch in Japan.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

That was a slow week overall besides the FFXIII demo in Japan.

US is done. Xbox360 wins the US against the PS3 (Yeah the Wii still rulez, we know that).

44k consoles is not good for the PS3 and I do not see this changing till a price-cut happens. Killzone2 is released, a game that was mainly for the American market and it did not have a huge impact. A small bump, but thats it. And there is no game for any console in the near future that might move systems. inFamous won't do anything on the hardware-side.

So I expect the worldwide PS3 numbers decrease as soon as the FFXIII-demo hype is done. (That might be the next week according to the Japan-preview). After that I expect the Xbox360 to outsell the PS3 till the pricecut happens by an estimated 30k margin.

Let's hope VGC is more in line with NPD this month.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Almost everyone ignored the gap between DS and PSP.

:O

wow low PS3/PSP numbers, anyone think PS3 will go below 110k in 2/3 weeks when Japan is back down to 20k~

Edit* Wow looks like PS3 is already down to 20k in Japan judging by the preview, so it could fall to as low as 15k~

Its drastically falling in the US so it can easily go below 40k there.

PSP is doing very badly in America.. it has several titles in the top 10 in Japan.. they should be brought over soon or the PSP is going to die out.
