Yeah, you can quit and keep your souls. You will lose progress in the level.

How can I tell what the requirements are? I only see symbols. Plus I know it isn't anything special, but I am going after the boss with my compound short bow +3.

The first rune is strength, second is dexeterity, third is magic/intelligence, and the fourth is faith.

You'll see the letters next to them earlier on weapons (letting you know how your stats affect the power of the weapon) and below that is the requirements to use the item at full strength.

I think I'm about soul level 20-25 or so maybe. I destroyed the level but once you get to this part there is a really strong opponent I won't spoil. I only went there to rescue the sage so I could learn more magic. Anywho I only tried it once so maybe you are right it might just be strategy. I got to the stairs after being on that god forsaken level right near the end and than an arrow came our of nowhere and took me out. I'll try again and let you know

Once I finished up 2-1, we should co-op 3-1.

Not sure if Soul Level will help. I believe the strategy for that part is :

"Don't get hit." 

 

I am about to fight the boss of 2-1. I'll see what area you are talking about soon.

This game is hillariuostly hard. I played for 3 hours last night and i lost everything after the first boss. My souls, all my healing herbs and all my equipment got broken so i had to start it over again.....Im doing a lot better now and I enjoying the game so much more.

You don't lose any items when you die.....
