Its not a uncommon practice to scour the web, searching for news about your favorite upcoming games or a forum to discuss your favorite system. Within the first 15 seconds of that search, you are bound to come across hordes of fanboyish articles stating that one console is better than the other. While neither side is innocent, there are many more Xbox love/Playstation hate articles than any other, probably due to the system being around for an extra year.

 
What you may not know, or may not wish to admit, is that more and more Xbox 360, true fanboys, are making there way to the Playstation 3. There are several questions I am sure you are wanting answered here, but lets focus on the general...What gives?

In the last 6 months, we have seen Sony step up it's gaming library with an onslaught of amazing titles that any gamer would feel naked without. Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid and Killzone 2 helped show the hardcore gamer that Playstation 3 can brawl with the best of them while LIttleBigPlanet, Motorstorm, Buzz and countless others helped involve even the most elementary of gamers into the next generation system.
 
It is true that Microsoft's LIVE service on the 360 is 2nd to none, and it should be. But what they don't want you to know, is that the Playstation Network is gaining ground and fast. Currently on revision 2.7, the PSN has garnered a full video service, video and text chat and a trophy system, similar to achievements, but a bit more complex. With Xbox LIVE Arcade being the leader of onine mini-games for the past 3 years, Sony has gunned to take that spot, and they have done just that. Not only are most of the games on the network fun to play, but 90% of them are unique and published by upcoming developers. PixelJunk Eden, EveryDay Shooter, Flower and even Ragdoll Kung Fu have found there way into millions of Playstation gamers hearts.
 
These factors have all contributed to the influx of PS3 system sales over the past several months. But why?
 
There are those gamers that are buying the console as there first step into the next generation gaming world, but the truth is, the majority of consumers purchasing the Playstation 3 system as of late, are current owners of the Xbox 360.
 
According to a number of sources, that will remain anonymous (at least for now), The Playstation 3 is beginning to offer what they thought there 360 would deliver. Regular feature updates, top of the line gaming experiences and true high definition audio and video are the key ingredients to this generation of gamer, and after some heavy fact finding, it turns out that even the biggest of fanboys can't keep there hands of the black, George Forman-esque powerhouse.
 
It is not uncommon for gamers to own multiple consoles, and making the jump to the Playstation 3 does not in anyway make the 360 outdated, but it does prove a good point. The Playstation 3 is not in a bind as so many sites would make you think. At its current price point, the system is continuing to pick up in sales and the biggest buyer is 360 gamers. All we we can say...Game On and look us up on PSN.

The truth behind skewed sales numbers always plays a factor, and while we intentionally shy away from lame sales numbers, this is a fact that can not be denied.
 
Not as valid of a site as we like, but at least this writer is willing to admit that they are making the leap to Play B3yond.
 
This frenzy began happening as Sony announced a major lineup of games for the 2009 year. This figure has continued to rise since this article, and has repeatedly outsold the 360, and has also overpowered the Wii on numerous occassions
 
Straight from Media Create, PS3 shows raw sales power globally. Numbers are important, but they are not everything. Just remember that games are what gamers should want. The rest is just icing.
 
Yet another look at the sales of the Playstation 3. I think that's enough with numbers. Who really cares? That's what I want to know.
 
If you were a Xbox 360 owner, who has purchased a Playstation 3 at a later date, comment below and state your reasons as to why. I think you will be surprised as to the array of answers you will get.




I think theres a shift going on and it will only get bigger this holiday season and beyond wen games like Imfamous Uncharted2 GT5 God of War 3 MAG get released

No I don't agree ... what has the PS3 had these past 5 months? Killzone 2 .. which could be offset from Halo Wars.

There is no reason for 360 owners to be going to the PS3 right now unless they are simply impatient to wait for announcements.

Reasonable on 26 April 2009

I doubt there's any movement other than natural purchases of consoles to play games.

I have a PS3/Wii and would buy a 360 should the scales tip in terms of games I want to get on the platform. Initially I favoured my PC for Mass Effect, etc. while focusing on PS3 and Wii for console.

But if less good 360 titles make there way to PC I'd happily buy a 360.

At the same time sure, some folks with a 360 must be buying PS3s.

But overall 360 is showing just as good (better in some regions) as PS3 so its not like people are not buying the console anymore.



Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Sales figures suggest it's the other way around especially in North America. I think it is probably the price that has many PS3 owners making the switch, how about you BHR-3 any thoughts?

Sales do show that the 360 is up and PS3 down in most regions. Proving a point gamers are leaning towards the 360.

Not to get off the subject but I own both systems and in February I decided that unless it is exclusive to the PS3 I buy for the 360. I know general consensus of friends and colleagues that have done the same thing. I also know about 5-6 people that have sold the PS3 to get a 360.

I am sure there are some PS3 gamers getting xbox360 and vice versa. I had a PS3 but ditched it since earlier on there was no need for it and I already have a Bluray player. Then when I thought about getting a PS3 to augment my 2 360's but decided to get another 360 as I don't want to start building another friend's list. Already play with the friends I have on the 360 daily!
