Forums - General - A question about Touchscreens.

Ok so i have noticed that the touchscreen on my DS is kinda weird. I dunno how to explain it but i'll try regardless.

Have you tried talking to the phone for like 10 minutes and then the screen looks kinda.. wet, greasy, whatever it's called? Well my DS touchscreen looks always like that, like it's from the inside.

Now, i thought that maybe it's my DS since i got it used. To my surprise, i got a Nokia 5800 which has a touchscreen and guess what? Same thing! Right after i removed the screen protector it had, before i even touched the screen i saw it again.

It's only visible when i'm viewing something really bright, like when i'm typing a message etc.

My question is, is this normal for touch screens or should i return the cell phone?

Edit: Also, my niece's DS doesn't have that issue. When the DS is turned off and viewed by a certain angle under light there seem to be some diagonal "lines" on the inside of the screen, while those are not present in my DS. Could it be some kind of different screen used on my DS that's also used on the Nokia 5800 that makes this difference?

Any help? :/

Sounds like your body oil. Its normal, and I wouldn't worry about it.

Well let's get some things straight. There are many different types of touch screens. Three common ones are Pressure, Heat, and Electricity.

A pressure touchscreen recognizes pressure on the touchscreen. (I'm pretty sure the DS uses this)

A heat touchscreen recognizes heat from your fingers. (I'm pretty sure most phones use this)

And an electric touchscreen recognizes the electric current from your fingers. (iPhone uses this)

That grease problem might just be grease/sweat from your face/hands. ^^

No, it can't actually be from my hands because when i unboxed the phone and removed the screen cover i turned it on without touching the screen at all and boom, it was there :( It's only visible from a close distance but still..

I am sure it's not going to reduce the life of your phone/DS. If you can't see it unless you look for it, what's the problem? You just curious why it's there?

Also, what's the temperature/humidity level like in Grease?

By Grease i assume you mean Greece :P

And i don't know the temperature/humidity level lol. Anyway, since it seems to be on the inside of the screen there's nothing i can actually do i guess.

And yeah i was just wondering why it is like that, especially since on my niece's DS this is not the case.

Whatever. :P

Well, that's weird.

I don't know what to say....

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

does it look like there is a translucent matte under the screen?
