Forums - Gaming - Do you have high standards as a gamer?

It depends a little on genre, but generally I'd say my standards for single-player games is pretty high. I play a lot of single-player games but very few have the experience to become one of my fave games.

This gen is pretty bad for this as most focus on multi with only a short and usually dumbed down single player campaign. I mean, it's possible to complete Mass Effect in about 10 hrs, and even when you do the side quests it only takes 20hrs. KoToR took me like 40+hrs. However, if the campaign is really engrossing, actually makes me feel like I'm there and the story is involving then I don't mind so much. Although there are some good single player experiences this gen, most feel a bit dumbed-down compared to previous gens.

My standards for multi are even higher as I don't play very many, so when I do I'm very picky (CS:S, Resistance2 co-op and CoD being the main ones).

You should be beaten, burned to ashes then someone should throw your ashes from a plane

Good gameplay and depending on the game, a goos story as well.

1. The game must be playable

2. The game must get the hooked in the first 2 hours

3. MUST be fun to play

4. Game MUST NOT be broken

I refuse to play any game that's not fun.

generally, i don't care about graphics. mostly what i care about in games the most is game length and replay value. not really long games necessarily [because long doesn't mean good], but games that i will probably end up getting a lot of play time out of, such as super mario 64, world of goo, super mario galaxy, ect.

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=76669&page=1

you can view a few screenshots from the game in my photo album here; http://www.vgchartz.com/photos/album.php?album=2312

Yeah. I don't understand how developers whip together a shit game and slap a $60 price tag on it. They know they're ripping people off and it hurts them in the long run.

I respect Nintendo for not putting out crappy or broken games. But that doesn't mean I'm crazy about the games they put out.

they are things games must do must accomplish for consideration.

-OVER 20 hours long, for all type of games, multi player helps.
- must have a good dub or at least Japanese with English subtitles
- i hate shovel ware ¬¬.
-it have to be fun.
-not game breaking bug if happens it should be fixed before i buy it.
for jrpg.
- GOOD storyline.
- nice character design, if have to look at them for 70 -100hrs they should be likeable.
- GOOD music score, bring me something of nobou uematsu or yoko shimomura.
-over 30-70hours for jrpgs. 30 should be the main storyline at least. + sidequesting time.

I have pretty high standards, but I hate hype. If I think something is getting overly hyped I start getting put off.
