Bah to all the people saying soccer. Rugby is more demanding than soccer.
I would say the most demanding sport is adventure racing. Sometimes lasting up to two weeks of pretty much constant slog.

I'm looking to start out on something a bit tamer, maybe a Ninja 500R or a SV650S. If only Kawasaki made a 500cc that looked like the Ninja 250R. I'd be all over it.

I have a car (Honda Accord).

rugby is probably the most demanding spectator sport. It has all the running of football with the added worry that everyone on the other team is deliberately trying to break every bone in your body. American football could come close because the pads make it difficult to get rid of heat and weigh a lot, but there are far too many stoppages in play that let you catch your breath.
as for most demanding sport overall, probably water polo or a marathon
Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Boxing. Anyone familiar with the physical fitness required (not to mention determination and willingness to take brain-damaging blows to the head) needs no further justification
Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.
gymnastics is probably one of the most difficult...
ironman trialthon is definitely the most endurance oriented...
ufc is up there in terms of strength and survival
I'll go with Rugby.
LOL at the list of dead footballlers. I think that many died from American football in it's first few formative years alone.
Joe Theisman comes to mind for pro-caliber American football injuries and deaths...His alone changed the way football is played. Very dangerous derivative of Rugby.
But yeah, Rugby is #1, even though I've only seen a scant few games.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
