Forums - Nintendo - [VIDEO INSIDE] Did the 1:1 control in Grand Slam Tennis convinced you?

It's close enough but still could use some "tidying" up. Although if it was true 1:1 it might be too hard haha. Give it a little leadway considering most people's form isn't going to be on the levels of the pro. They do the same in Tiger Woods for the swings.

But it definitely does look quite responsive which is great. This game should really take off for EA.

In tennis do you control your player's movements or do you just control swing as like Wii Tennis.

I don't think anyone knows yet... I suppose the question is how easy would it be to do that while taking full swings all the time. You would need a totally seperate controller to do it without hassle (ie not connected by wire like the nunchuck) so I am doubtful.

You control the character also of course.

But I think I'll go just for the wiimote. But I want to see if Virtua Tennis performs better than this.

in the video, the problem I see is that twisting the controler changes your backhand to your forehand (and back).... I think it'll play without a problem when you do the full moves, but it might be a hasle for lasy players or players that don't have room to do the footwork in their house... (me)

The angling is not 1.1 but that would probably be a bit too inacurate considering you'd have to count in timing of the ball and all.... It's better the way it is here, you have like what, 6 different directions to shoot at, that's fine.

The disk you control the timing, so it's way easier for 1.1 to be accurate with what you want to do...

This is exactly were programmers fail.

The racket could be 1:1 motion controlled totally. The ball physics don't.

What I mean is that it could be animated almost like real life like the video of the frisbee on Tiger Woods, but when you hit the ball it would have smoothed route so it would be easy to control the ball with complete real movements from the racket, for the joy and fun of it.
