Things will be close, or at least closer than they ever have been, but I think the only way the ps3 could win is if both GT5 and FFXIII hit this year and there's a price cut

Of course, new Wii colors would probably trump the above, if they happen.

It will be wii by a much biger gap than most people think.

PS3...only because FF XIII...look the PS3 sold four times more than the Wii only because the Demo was out...imagine what the real game will do...in the first FFXIII week the PS3 will sell the numbers the Wii sold the last 2 months count together!

Thats whats going to happen, when FXIII comes out. 

Oh and I read that by 2 and a half years the PS2 sold 30 million consoles.

In 2 and half years the PS3 has sold 22 million which is not bad at all!

PS3, because of PS3 pricecut in Japan.
Though, Pricecut will be probably announced only on TGS09, that will be enough. =)

FFXIII will alone sell 500k PS3s in December with 29,900 yen PS3 price.

Tekken 6 - not sure how it`s big today in Japan though.)
+ Bayonetta, Quantum Theory, NGS2, NEW CC game and maybe Team Ico game.

p.s. GT5 also has chances to come this year in Japan.

Wii will win, PS3 barely sells as much with all these big releases.

Why do all these people mention a Ps3 price cut? What about a Wii price cut? That would make a huge difference too!

Wii already cost 25k yen, so who will get a.... about 20k yen price?

While PS3 cost 40k yen, and moving to 30k price, is a REALLY some difference.

The Wii is already more than affordable, PS3 not that much in Japan.

@Zuhyc, yeah, PS3 just outselling Wii by 2-3 times with a Higher price. The Wii has lost it`s momentum.

i think wii will win for much of 09, but then ps3 will catch up and overtake it during holidays

I want to mention that Moster Hunter might not sell as well as we expect. Animal Crossing, which did amazing on the DS, didn't fare as well on the Wii.

I think the Wii is more likely. The sales increase is only recent and we are already calling a winner (or even a race). Wii has been starved for games since last year. Nintendo has been bad about releasing titles for the Wii. The big reason for the drop may simply be the lack of titles. I assume Nintendo's goal at E3, with the threat of Sony and Microsoft motion controller pushed aside for some time, is to try and spring interest on the Wii. I'm hoping their goal will be to try and slam the Wii with content.
