PS3 with a price cut towards the end of 2009 would turn the tables in favour of PS3. PS3 is currently priced the same in America and Japan retailing for around $US 400 in both regions. PS3 priced at $US 299 and the PS3 will easily outsell Wii in Japan for 2009 and beyond.

Price cut with FF13 and possibility of GT5, PS3 out sales the wii surely.

But all 3 happening are not very likely.

You should read some of the threads who deal with the famous PS3 pricecut. Sony is in a dire financial position. With the (partial) collapse of Japanees overseas trade Sony bleeds red ink. It's bleeding bad. Profability is now their mantra, not pricecut. At least until the recession is over.

Personally, I think both are going to be equally tied. PS3 has their share of heavy hitters, and Wii has theirs for the remainder of the year. In the end, I don't think either system will outsell the other by year's end. Still, I DO expect Wii to come out in the longrun. Like GC, PS3 had its share of hot titles that caused spikes, but even that didn't help the system much.

At summer the ps3 will have a 40-50k lead over the Wii, then it will go back to about 10k, but after december and final fantasy the gap will be close to 500k

PS3 has the edge. FFXIII will move about 180k systems 1st week. GT5 will move about 100k systems 1st week. And with a price cut those numbers could easily rise.

^ Exactly, just from those two first week sales it should move at least 250K PS3s (only two weeks of sales) and lets say the Wii is selling on average 25K a week around then, well the PS3 just sold 10 weeks of Wii sales in two weeks (over 2 months!). A price cut or Slim PS3 should be the final nail in the coffin IMO. 2009 is going to be close in Japan.
