Do i have to explain again why the game is forbidden? well, here i go:

Dragon Quest has always been (until now) a console JRPG, and being that much popular causes people to absent from work or school, but that's because it can't be played everywhere (i'm talking about the originals, not the remakes) so people stay at home and play it... DQ3 (my favorite DQ game) caused this back then and it was Enix, not the Japanese government, the ones that decided this...

Pokemon is not like that, it has always been a handheld game, it doesn't matter if it gets more popular than Mario, it's still a handheld game that can be played everywhere so people don't get absent from work...

Now, saleswise, here's your proof from Famitsu:

1 GB Pokemon Red/Green/Blue 10,077,000
2 GB Pokemon Gold/Silver 7,961,000
4 DS Pokemon Diamond/Pearl 5,465,000
5 GBA Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire 5,337,000

11 PS Dragon Quest VII 3,893,000
14 FC Dragon Quest III 3,800,000
17 PS2 Dragon Quest VIII 3,546,000

18 PS Final Fantasy VIII 3,502,000
19 PS Final Fantasy VII 3,278,000

20 GB Pokemon Yellow 3,160,000

21 FC Dragon Quest IV 3,100,000
22 SFC Dragon Quest VI 3,082,000

26 GBA Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen 2,884,000

28 SFC Dragon Quest V 2,800,000

29 PS Final Fantasy IX 2,707,000
32 SFC Final Fantasy VI 2,550,000
34 SFC Final Fantasy V 2,450,000

35 FC Dragon Quest II 2,400,000
38 GB Dragon Quest Monsters 2,350,000

39 PS2 Final Fantasy X 2,325,000
40 PS2 Final Fantasy XII 2,322,000

49 GB Pokemon Crystal 2,120,000

And do i have to repost the pictures i put in this very thread? when was the last time (or any time) Dragon Quest got painted in Japanese airlines, subways and cars??? Pokemon did that, and of course stars play Pokemon, old people??? well the last time i went to Nihon i saw some old folks playing it, but i don't know if it's the exception or the rule...

It's forbidden due to the fact that it's so popular. If Pokémon was as successful or popular, I think it would be forbidden, too.

Again, it was Enix the one that imposed the rule to themselves, not the J-government (that's a big one for the mythbusters), so now you want Nintendo to follow the Enix rule?

And a forbidden rule is enough to say that a franchise is more popular than another??? let me see: Is a Grand Theft Auto game forbidden to release on a weekday in any country in the West?, in America, is a Halo game forbidden to release on a weekday?

If you bother to look at the sales i posted, and do the math, you'll see which one is more popular, and i'm talking just about games, i'm not even discussing the cash cow that the Pokemon games brought with the anime, the cards, movies, etc.

Except for success in video games, Pokémon hasn't done so much else, whereas Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest are so big names in video games, in my opinion, that they inspire others to take it to the next levels.

Again. You should go visit Japan some time instead of talking just based on your imagination of Japan. There are numerous examples of what Pokemon has done in the earlier posts and you just choose to ignore them.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

I agree I was exaggerating a bit, but my point was that both Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy have been greater in terms of success...

Only in your mind. Can't figure out how FF and DQ have had bigger success than Pokemon otherwise. Sales? Popularity? You are discounting those. So success in what manner then?

People will purchase Pokémon, yes. It is more popular worldwide. But in Japan, I'd say no. There, Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy are especially famous, thus crushing Pokémon.

I can't wait to see the first-week sales of the next Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy and a Pokémon titles - we'll se who'll be laughing then. We'll see which game is more hyped and more sought-after.

Dude, you're embarrassing. Mario is at least ten times bigger than Pokémon.  He doesn't belong here. We all know he's the biggest trademark in gaming, so don't discuss about him. To say that Pokémon is even remotely close is laughable.

Mario Franchise Sales History: 201 million units. source.

Pokemon Franchise Sales History: 186 million units. source.

Mario has been around since 1981. Pokemon has been around since 1997. 12 years for Pokemon and 28 years for Mario. Twice as long, and yet Pokmeon has sold almost as many units. So no, you're wrong, and completely ridiculous. Pokemon is the biggest franchise in the world.

It is the biggest JRPG franchise in every nation in the world. This is not debatable. There is no discussion here. Pokemon is much larger than Dragon Quest. Pokemon sells more units, has more products, and more cultural influence. Pokemon wins, even in Japan. Again, there is nothing to debate here. It's not even remotely reasonable to argue against this fact.

And there is very little more stupid than the "it doesn't count cause it's handhelds" argument. Handhelds represent more than half of our industry's sales. How about this? I'm gonna stop counting consoles since they are weak shit compared to PCs.

So yes. Pokemon is the biggest established franchise in the modern video game industry, regardless of territory. Deal with it.

Oh damn naz I didn't expect you to be so brutal!  But 100% true

The pokemon demo in Japan, young people, old people, and tons of people in the back waiting to get in.

Yes all this for a "childs" game that isn't as big as Mario, Final Fantasy, or Dragon Quest, next time you see a Dragon Quest jumbo jet, a Mario train, or a Final Fantasy car come out of Japan let me know.

I gave you hard numbers! There is a limit to ignorance. You are embarassing yourself. Be an adult and apologize and admit your mistake. Or you can be childish and immature and keep arguing nothing but your unsubstantiated opinion against hard numbers and facts.
