When is Tekken 6 being released?

But maybe it is broken. A series like this should be getting stronger, especially as the install base on the PS2 went up. Maybe it was because of Soul Caliber and Dead or Alive, but this game has obviously lost some appeal with gamers. Again, I'm not trying to troll this topic or be a hater. I love this game, but I bought tekken 4 and just thought...meh. Tekken 5 didn't seem any diiferent...and Tekken 6 looks just the same. Time for a reboot is all I'm saying. Maybe Tekken vs. Soul Caliber would be cool. |
Well, I do think that 5 was better than 4, but the series definately peaked with Tekken Tag Tournament. That game is my favourite fighter second only to Soul Calibur.
Of course, I play most of my fighters in an actual arcade, so I might have a different perspective than others.
Seems like they're always pushing the character models and eye candy with fighters, and the gameplay suffers in a way which is hard to even put your finger on.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event." — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

It doesnt hurt to have nice eye candy does it?
Well considering the majority of the people that buy the console version of the game are 'casuals' that aren't going to play seriously in a long run, Developers have to fish potential customers (= sales #s) with elements that attract them, weather it be the newest number in the series, brushed up visuals, new cool characters etc.
Fighting game genre is too minor and will continue to decline no matter how good the so called game play is. What is gameplay without an opponent to play against?
crappy old school NES games are more entertaining than next-gen games.
they should add attribute/parameter/stat like str, spe, dur, chr, sta, har, sub, tec & remove hp bar & add finisher & blood & referee & more match type like wwe svr & add story which look something like dmc with different tekken character & different ending of course & may be create character & move...

I'm definately a fan of fighters - tekken especially but its really too bad they dont work (at a playable level) online. |
I used to visit my friends in Austin that were in a Tekken club. They gave me the idea to start an all-campus tekken tournament. We ended up having 40 or 50 people come and play. I entered our tournament myself, and got stomped in the third round.

Wow the Tekken franchise has fallen quite a bit, WOW never knew that. Seeing that it was popular in the PS1 days.

Wow way to not read the whole thread. It has already been discussed that those numbers are wrong, and that Tekken 5 sold 4.3 mil. according to Wikipedia (which makes sense, considering how much better 5 was than 4). Once again, VGchartz's software numbers are just off. It's like that for a lot of older games here.

Wow....damn, I'm running out of things to say wow about. :P
Tekken 6 has no set release date yet, other than November or something like that for the arcade version. I'd assume the ps3 version should come out in Spring sometime. They shouldn't have any trouble porting it, because it's not a port. It was built around ps3 hardware, and they are actually using ps3 components (including the Cell) in the arcade machines. So, once the arcade version is finished, the game should basically be finished overall. Then they'll use the arcade version as a beta test of sorts, figure out what needs blancing, things like that, then fix them for the ps3 version.
Oh, and think before I post? I'm not the one who didn't read the thread! :P
(and i'm totally overreacting on purpose, so don't take this too seriously :D )
