if any game company drops out its going to be sony they've lost over 3 billion dollars because of the ps3 and i also think the share holders will force them out

who will replace them id a difficult question i think either apple,Activision Blizzard, sega or Atari

appel becuse there trying to get iphone and itouch in the handheld industry they may see a opportunity to jump ship and make a home console

Activision Blizzard because they have so many Ips it may justify making a home console

sega and atari they've made consoles in the pat and this may be the best time to make a new one

Didnt MS lose $6 Billion from the original Xbox and Xbox Live?

Yeah, but they could afford it because company in general was very profitable (which is not the case of Sony)

OT

Any Sony fan that wants MS to leave the console bussines need to remember that if there is somebody to thank that the PS3 is finally a great console to own is.. MS.

I don't really thing anyone will leave, MS just built a big enought install base to justify another console and the PS brand is still big so it wouldn't be smart for Sony to leave (at least for now).

Finally, on a more personal level, while I own a PS3, I hope they burn in hell, as neither Microsoft or Nintendo, in their worst hours, ever insulted me and you, the consumers.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. Are we talking about electronics themselves, or what company execs have said?

On topic:  Both MS and Sony seem to be locked in a little profit situation.

Mistwalker (probable) and Ensemble (confirmed) getting the axe from MS hasn't helped what I think of them lately.

Some consoles break 16 times as often as others, for instance.

Anyway: if profitable, MS will stay, but if something happens to where they feel they are secure in the living room with Windows, without needing a gaming console, they could call it quits if things get tough next gen.  If they feel it's necessary to stay in the living room space with a console, they will.

i don't trust either of them

One makes crappy hardware, and is willing to under cut its own profits to kill competition, while the other monopolized the market through over saturation of cheap crappy, unoriginal and under developed controls and game design.

You wonder why Nintendo is still around? How can a company that used to have such innovative control and design in their walkman's do absolutely nothing new with their game machines. MS just copied Sony and used their excessive monopoly in PC operating software to buy out the competition.

Id like to know how people think that either MS or Sony can innovate ( to a point that surpasses Nintendo's pedigree) when their history of game genres, interactivity and controls never truly stepped outside the box. When they did it was usually copied from Nintendo anyway.

Every time i hear moaning about Nintendo's cheap plastic accessories or casual games you should be asking yourself not why Nintendo do it but why competitors don't.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Oh and i think Sony will bite the bullet sooner. Japan's economy is going to have a shit load of trouble recovering and they were already deep in dept. I don't even believe the PSP2 is being seriously considered unless its a multi functionality iphone competitor. Of course even that is problematic considering Sony Ericsson's market share is very small.
