Forums - Nintendo - Why does everyone love to hate the Wii?

It's not that they are hating on the Wii. It's just that they are bored with their PS3's and 360's and they have nothing better to do.

I think it's because many 'gamers' felt betrayed because the Wii wasn't decided first and foremost for them and worse, it's the top selling system meaning next gen, all systems might be aimed at the casual market first and gamers second.

Just imagine pink PS4s at launch and Facebook integrated into XBL

I don't hate the Wii and will probably purchase one later; however, a small influential section of gamers this gen cannot seem to stand the Wii. If you want an overabundance of mature titles, then the Wii is not for you. The Wii is #1 because it goes after non-gamers, leaving most gamers alienated. I have yet to see a core Nintendo franchise come out with a new installment this year or even the end of last year. Theres more but i'm at school, so i'll respond later.

I don't hate the Wii. Never have.

The reason that I don't own one is because the majority of the games don't appeal to me.

I hate the Wii because my chick forces me to play Carnival Games with her.

I have a feeling that it's disc is going to mysteriously get a scratch sometime soon....

Stop getting so excited about a Kid Icarus remake... the original NES Icarus sucked.

I think someone on this form has something like:
The Wii is the first console in history to win a generation but not because of it's games but because of a gimmick.

Personally I like the Wii but I'm kind of afraid of what the disruption of it's success may cause for the next-gen games. I hate the idea that the PS4 and NextBox may be aiming towards the more casual market. I like how the PS2 was set up! It had a lot of Casual games but it still tended to the needs of the hardcore gamer. Nintendo seems to have ignored the core gamers (with the exception of SMG,SSB,Zelda) in favor of the kiddie demographic and the old people one.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Because it's the most popular. The obvious answer is indeed the right one, in this case. You wouldn't be seeing any hate if it was in 3rd place.

Being hated on is good. It means you're doing something right.

I don't hate the Wii. It just doesn't give me that "wow, I haven't tried that! I should buy it!" feeling that I love when I walk into a games store. Pretty much, if there's a Wii game that I'm interested in, I already know about it, and I go there specifically to buy it. There's no impulse buying for the Wii. It's got good/great games, but they're not as abundant as the HD consoles. It just doesn't give me that excitement that I NEED.
