I think Capcom are just a bit lost in what to do with the franchise. After milking it to death with all the different Megaman series, they're pretty lost in what to do. From what I can gather, Mega Man 9 was a success, so they might aim on making a Mega Man 10 fairly soon, and I think Star Force is still going ... As for a big-budget blockbuster Mega Man game? I don't think we'll ever see that again.
I doubt they could make a better Mega Man than Mega Man 9. Maybe 10.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6). This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.
