Forums - Nintendo - I just rewatched Nintendo 2008 E3 conference

I forgot about that terrible start montage of people playing games and smiling and the music was ... never again Nintendo...

One interesting aspect though and this guy is always great to listen to.. Iwata's speech on paradigm shift. His first point was that the way games sell has changed and now can sell for more than 2 or even 3 years which was almost unheard of 5 years ago. Yet we're still fighting about it almost a year after the great man told us that it was part of the Wii and DS revolution.

Other than that.. They showed Shaun White Snowboarding, Call of Duty: World at War, RRR: TV Party, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Spore Creatures, Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades, Animal Crossing: City Folk (and announced Wii Speak), Wii Sports Resort and Wii Music... They also announced a launch date for a Pokemon title and announched GTA: Chinatown Wars.

Please guys.. Don't watch it.. I don't know what compelled me to watch.. I guess now I will know really early on if this years conference is going down the same path as 2008's :S Watching 2006's conference now.. It's already so much more full of awesome.. sads..

Fullfilled Prophecies

E3 2006 was just so great. I hope this years e3 will be like that again.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

I have mixed feelings about it.
In one way the conference made me feel proud that Nintendo was now mainstream (after being last) on the other it was boring (no great game hype).

This years will blow last years outa da water mark dem wordz.

cant wazit for E3

Hmm.. E3 2006

Reggie: 'Can Wii truly be new if all the names are the same? Of course not.. That's why we are hard at work on new franchises to expand our portfolio'

He then showed Excite Truck (Excite franchise isn't new), Project H.A.M.M.E.R. (Which as far as we know is dead) and then Disaster: Day of Crisis.. Didn't even release it the US reggie!

The 08 Ninny conference was full of win... just look at this :)

God that E3 2008 conference was painful to watch... especially as I just want to punch Cammie.... I watched them all, and while I thought Sony's was the best (LBP was awesome) Microsofts was a little painful seeing them play your in the movies... but it did not compare to Nintendo's
