Forums - Gaming Discussion - What is ******* wrong with Konami?

Ok, I really cannot understand the thinking at Konami. They just announced they have re-imagined the way they are doing the Karaoke Revolution series, and will release a new game for Fall for PS3, 360, & Wii. They mention the Wii version in the press release first, as the last 3 KR games (all American Idol presents KR) have sold the best on the Wii. This will be the first time KR has used the original tracks and not cover songs.

The press release details that only the PS3 and 360 versions have a "party" mode, can play a party game for up to 16 players. The PS3 and 360 versions will also be the only ones to be able to download new songs, and play online.

What?

The most obvious crown of stupidity goes to the person  at Konami that made the Wii version the one to exclude local party mode. What did he say at the meeting? "Let's not bother with party mode on the console people play at parties, lets just put it on the hardcore HD consoles." somebody should immediately be fired for that. And last time i checked, the Wii plays games online well if a developer tries to make it work, Wii owners don't seem to be complaining that they could play the last 2 GH games online, as well as RB2. They can play 32 player MOH, 8 player COD, 12 player MK, and many more with no problems.

Now that the space issue is dead and gone, Wii owners can download unlimited amounts of Rock Band and Guitar Hero songs. And since KR sells more on the Wii, they are choosing to not take additional money from Wii owners for extra songs to sing? This is PERFECT DLC for the casual gamer!

Konami is crazy to gimp the game to the system that has had the best sales for the last 3 volumes of the game? Even DDR (dying horse that it is) now sells better on the Wii now than the competitors. Maybe the next Wii version will come with a piece of painted cardboard instead of a dance pad....

Now I know this is the same brilliant Konami that made an amazing PES 2008, yet released it and the 2009 version 6 months after  every other version (and probably wondered why it didn't sell). This was extremely stupid, however PES never sold the best on Wii, even though it was critically acclaimed. And by releasing it so late , this was destined to happen.

but KR sells best on Wii. It is unbelievable to me that the gimped version of Karaoke Revolution would go to the console with the highest sales.

Nintendo prints money, Konami pisses it away.

Not surprising, the Wii is the first sales leading console that, even after almost 3 years, is still largely ignored on a lot of things.

PS3 and 360: Hey devs, check this out. You can put DLC in for your games like this.

Nintendo: Bwuh?

[2 years later]

Nintendo: Hey guys, we worked with the folks at Red Octane and we finally have DLC for games!

PS3 and 360: ...

@RadioioRobert, Really Konami is no different then most other third party publishers. Maybe that'll change in the future, but it doesn't look like it.

I get that, and understand the thinking in a lot of cases, even though it is flawed. But here, the Wii version is the clear money maker, yet it's getting the least effort.

If you worked 3 jobs (1 for each console), which would you put the most effort into? The one that pays you the most money.... common sense, right? So why is the opposite of common sense being applied here?

And people wonder why gaming companies are in trouble...

XBL: WiiVault Wii: PM me  PSN: WiiVault

I don't understand how the Wii version of Call of Duty: World at War (Wii) got tiny DLC, and Samba de Amigo, but nothing else can.
