Actually if you stayed a little longer on the site you would realize there is a great amount of PS3 owners compared to 360 owners.

PS1 had the best games of its generation. PS2 had the best games of its generation as well. This time around its about even and personally I enjoy the 360 exclusives. I guess that's what happen.

Couldn't agree more!

This is because thats all you are being exposed too . There is nothing wrong with that though, the same held true for PS2. The reason why people thought the PS2 games were better because they never really played any of the other console games(and the fact majority of games were PS2 exclusive). Yet this time it is a difference. There are not that many GOOD games that divide the 360 away from the PS3. 360 may have more games, but how many of those exclusives do you really enjoy? Bakini Samurai anyone?

If most 360 owners got to experience the likes of Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, MGS4, Resistance 1&2, Killzone 2, Sirens, Motorstorm 1&2, GT Prologue, Singstar, Buzz, free online,no extra attachement fees, etc you would be singing PS3's praises as well as the 360's.

personally from all the games you mentioned only Heavenly Sword was fun for me when i've exchanged wii for ps3 for a few weeks. i find 360 exclusive games more appealing to me and 360 have more exclusive games that i like(ps3 have 4-5 exclusive i really liked). still most of ps360 game i like are multiplat.

and i love Onechanbara 360 game cause i've had a blast playing it especially considering it is first gen 360 game japanese budget title - i've received wii game yesterday and its great as well.

Alright, you've truly puzzled me waron. You love Onechanbara but didn't like Uncharted, R1+2, KZ2, Siren, MS1+2, GT5P, Singstar, Buzz, and MGS4?

Even I find that hard to believe.

i liked Pure over motorstorm - it was good game, but it bored me fast.

i hate console fps to begin with if i'm playing on typical gamepad(it's uncomftable) and i've got to play those games long after i started to hate all those grey/brown/green realistic graphcs and while playing Resistance 2 and KZ2 was fun i really couldn't get hooked to those games(though i still liked some of the levels) - i'm more in colorful Mirror's Edge than sad and depressive Gears of War style.

i don't like mgs series to begin with.

i prefer arcade style racers over Gran Turismo - i'm more Burnout, Ridge Racer and PGR gamer. still i had a blast with forza 2 when i had 360, but those games are, well, i just like to sit, start the game and have some brainless fun driving cars.

maybe online in those games is good but i hardly ever play any game online.

same goes with multiplatform games - i had more fun with Crackdown, Assasins Creed and Saints Row series than with GTA4(heck i still like to play once in a while AC game just to make some bloodbath or do some parkour action).

i love onechanbara since i like japanese style games and it was the first ps2 game i ever played, i think. maybe they aren't pretty but i just kinda like them(same goes to disaster report series etc.)

I've never seen a thread with so many pictures of fanny packs before.

I would argue that it has less to do with exposure and significantly more to do with preference and community.

With both the PS2 and Xbox360, most of your friends had the system and were playing games on it, so that was the system you bought and played.  This can have a dramatic affect on which system someone buys.

In regards to the games, different people can like different games.  Even if someone finds a title like Resistence 1&2 or Killzone2 appealing, are they enough to consider a purchase of the PS3?  On the 360 you get Gears of War and Halo, both of which are more likely to have been or are currently being played by your community.  Beyond that, most people only buy 6 - 8 games over the life of a system and usually spread across 2 - 3 genres.  A given Shooter player will only buy 2 - 4 Shooter titles over the life of the system.  People on internet forums are exceptions, not the rule.

On the 360, you can get Halo3, Gear 1 & 2, and any of the CoD games.  You don't need more than that.  If you are a truly heavy Shooter player, then yes, you will likely want to also consider purchasing the PS3, but most people do not fit that bill.

Beyond that, say you like Shooters like I do, but you also want some RPG from both Japan and the US in your mix.  Well, the 360 is a lot like the PS2 in the sense that you can get titles in almost any genre you could possibly want.  It even has a lot of unique titles ranginging from the Bikini game mentioned to stuff like Culdcept Saga and Idolm@ster to Scrabble and Uno.

People do not have to dislike or hate the exclusives on the PS3.  They may even find them extremely enjoyable.  That does not mean that they have to buy the system though.  There is such a thing as good enough.  While I would love to play Valkaryia Chronicles and White Knight Story, I cannot justify getting a PS3 just for those two titles when I have countless other JRPGs on the 360 to fulfill my desires and gaming time.  As it is, I haven't had enough time to complete several.  I am sure at least VC is better than The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery, but not $400 better.  If the PS3 gets into the range of $200 - $250 or another 3 - 5 games come out that really interest me, then I can likely justify a purchase to play the games I will enjoy.  But in the meantime, I would rather take the $400 and put it toward upcoming 360 titles like Mass Effect 2, Sacred 2, Halo ODST, Magna Carta 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, Burnout Paradise DLC, Rock Band 2 DLC, Lego Rock Band, and whatever RARE or Lionhead put out.

While some of these titles are multiplatform, that doesn't matter for me or a lot of people.  They are titles I will enjoy playing as much on the 360 as on the PS3.

One final thing, I see a lot of people always trying to use price against Xbox Live.  While I can understand this argument especially in the current economic climate, you have to consider that for a lot of the Xbox Live Gold subscribers, it is worth every penny.  The funniest thing I find is that I am more than willing to pay for Live Gold for the 8 person party chat.  I almost never play games online, but I love being able to just chat it up with my friends while we are each playing out own games.  We all generally play Single Player games, so this feature works out great for us.

If 8 Player chat was not present, I would be hesitant to subscribe, but it also wouldn't really matter all that much to me.  With Silver I would still get full marketplace access, achievements, friends, everything but online play and chat.  Its not like Live Gold is really a requirement to enjoy the system.

You know....I can't say I disagree with you :)

The good enough clause sounds about right. But still one thing bothers me.

How many great exclusive games, bells and whistles does it take to justify a $400 purchase? I mean PS3 has some really great stuff, the kind of games you will be thinking about  for decades(MGS4,VC), contemplating the experiences you've had. At what point can you say "ok, I will pay $400 for this."?  Or is the price just too high, no matter what it is capable of, no matter how great it's games are, etc?

P.S. @ siren
The reason that XLive is becoming less and less justified is because PSN is becoming more and more like it. The only "feature" that anyone cares about that Live has and PSN doesn't is the one you described. Once PSN has that, and remains free, how will the price be justified?

The problem here is the presumption that MS is standing still.  They are not.  NXE should show that.  Anyone who has used the NXE alot will notice a few key things.

1) Microsoft keeps expanding it.  Every month more and more features, applets, and options have been added seemlessly into the experience.

2) Content is seriously on the rise.  Every week more and more videos, games, DLC, everything is appearing.  Faster than before.

While Sony is trying to add just 2 player cross game chat, MS perfected 8 player cross game chat.

Sony adds Trophy support in some games, MS improves trophies.  MS achievements autosync, Sony requires manual sync.

Sony has a few games with Custom Soundtracks, MS has all games with custom soundtracks.

One of the big problems that Sony has to deal with is that their system was not designed with some of this in mind.  As a result, adding the features is proving to be a challenge at best, impossible at worst.

While Sony may be able to eventually add Cross Game Voice chat, they are going to have to burn a lot more precious reserved system resources than MS do.  MS planned the support from launch and thus offloaded part of the audio system to the controllers so as to not take resources from the system itself.

Sony has added Trophies, but to autosync they would need to take more resources while in-game.  To give an audiable alert like the 360 does, more resources.

Custom Soundtracks in all games is a no-go.  At best Sony can have Custom Soundtrack support required in all future titles, but that has it's own problems.  Old games lack the API Sony would have to create and add in order to support Custom Soundtracks being provided by the system.  Even if new games required support of said API, Sony would have to reserve at least 8mb of RAM and some CPU to pull it off.  If Sony is having trouble doing 2 person voice chat (arguably more valuable) or even realtime Trophy auto-sync (extremely low resource usage), how are they going to pull off Custom Soundtrack support?

One way I could see Sony eventually adding a lot of these features is doing something like MS did with the NXE.  A complete OS re-write for the PS3.  The downside here is that this would be an extremely expensive endevour that could take 9 - 18 months to pull off at best.  Assuming they did pull it off, in order to cover the cost they would likely have to charge for the new OS either a one time fee, or a subscription model like Live.  Either way, at that point, they would be charging.

In regards to the comment about at what point could I justify a PS3.  Honestly, if the PS3 had launched at the same time as the 360 at the same price, I would have a PS3.  The problem is that it didn't.  As a result, the PS3 has to fight harder than the 360 for my money as I do not need it to play any of the Multiplatform games, I already have the 360 for that.  Furthermore, I am now deeply connected to achievements and my Xbox Live community, as a result even if I buy a PS3 I will still likely acquire all Multiplatform games on the 360 (even if PS3 graphics are significantly better).

So, I need a few hit titles to really push me over the edge.  The kind of stuff I can't get on the 360.

To get closer to what I can use to jusify a purchase, I look at the last generation.  The PS2 was in the same position as the 360 is now in this regard.  So how do you justify an Xbox purchase?  I did mostly by the types of games I could get on the Xbox but not on the PS2.  Due to the poorer analog sticks on the DualShock2 (sensitivity as well as placement), FPS just were not as enjoyable on the PS2.  Thus if I wanted FPS on a console, Xbox was the best bet.  Due to the triggers v shoulder buttons, the same could be said about Racing games for me.  It was a lot more enjoyable to play using a trigger as apposed to either an on/off shoulder button or an analog stick for gas.  This eventually led me to purchase an Xbox, but in the larger scope I still bought almost 4x as many titles on the PS2 as I did on the Xbox.

In regards to the PS3, there are games I want, but not quite enough yet.  Had FFXIII remained exclusive, that alone would have sold me on a PS3.  For me, Final Fantasy is a system seller.  Beyond that, I am on the fence.  The next big exclusive I really want to play on the PS3 that has not equivelent on the 360 in terms of gameplay is God of War III.  With that title, I might just buy a PS3 if it is down to $300 or less.  It is really hard to say.  Since it is likely an 8 - 12 hour game, I might just borrow a friends PS3 for a weekend to beat it.

To guarentee a purchase of the PS3 for me, I would need to see at least 4 - 8 must have titles on the system.  Not nice to have.  Not "I would really like to try that" kind of games.  More games like God of War III and VC.  More PSN games that I could see myself playing for countless hours like Peggle, Geometry Wars, Assault Heroes, and N+.

I bought a 360 at $400.  Why did I buy it?  Games.  To add some perspective, these are the games I purchased for the 360 in the first year.

Call of Duty 2, NFS Most Wanted, Amped3, Dead or Alive 4, SmashTV, Condemned, Project Gotham Racing, Perfect Dark Zero, Oblivion, Kameo, Uno, Frogger, Cloning Clyde, Prey, Galaga, Chromehounds, Dead Rising, Dynasty Warriors 5 Emprires, Lego Star Wars II, Samarai Warriors II, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Viva Pinata, Burnout Revenge, Wik Fable of Souls, Enchanted Arms, Outpost Kaloki X, Ninety-Nine Nights and Gears of War.

Yes I am a hardcore gamer, but there was definately a lot to like on the system in the first 12 months, most of which I could not get anywhere else.  Not all of the games were must haves, but there was enough at launch with the likes of Kameo, PDZ, DoA4, CoD2, NFSMW, Dead Rising, and Burnout to satisfy me until JRPGs and more FPS titles hit.
