Forums - Sony - PSP-Highest selling hardware in Japan starting next week?

Ok, that's for appeal, I doubt it could beat the DS. But it will definitely get large software and hardware boosts. I'm going to get the closest look at the upcoming Japanese market that an American can.

http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/bestsellers/videogames/ref=sv_vg_2/250-2790500-4832266

10 of the top 20 items are for the PSP, although several of the items are the PSP itself. This can be compared to:

3 DS items

5 PS2 items

1 Xbox item

1 Xbox 360 item

Of course, one could claim that Amazon.com is hardly a judge of the current gaming market. This is mostly true, however...

According to Alexa.com, Amazon.jp is the 13th highest ranked website in Japan. This can be compared to Amazon.com being the 11th highest ranked site in the U.S. So, one could argue that it's no more accurate than Amazon.com is for the U.S.

However...

http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?url=amazon.co.jp

http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?url=amazon.com

According to the site, 86.7% of the site's traffic comes from Japan. Only 42.6% of Amazon.com's traffic is from the U.S., however.

Now that that's all out of the way, we can safely say that the PSP will have a strong showing next week. Crisis Core is at #2 on Amazon.jp, and will be released next week. I haven't figured out what the title at the top is (looks strange), but I can safely say it will do well.

Thoughts?

FF7 psp pack alone is 77k units.

Just take Amazon out of of your argument. That's all I ask.

It will do well. I heard there were lines for FFVII:CC, which is good, cause there haven't been lines for a PSP product since MHF2.

And, with the state of Japan, PSP could be the number one seller. DS was down to less than 80k last week. Does it have a game to counter the FFVII:CC launch?

I have stopped bothering keeping track of all these damn Final Fantasies.

As for Amazon.com, I'll try to find other sources too, but I'm sticking with it.

using amazon for japan is pointless.

Most people go to the store on the first day to pick up their games/hardware.

I have a better question. How do Japanesse people read squares?

Okay, I get it, you have a personal vendetta against Amazon.com. If you'd like to find other sources, then I'd be happy to post them. In the mean time, well, I'm not going to be rude about it, but just shut up.

And I don't know if this is just from experience on this site, but I already know the people who will post and what they will say. It's sort of eerie.

Not squares. There are different language packs you can get with Internet Explorer/Firefox/Opera and such. If you don't have them installed, they usually replace the foreign characters with ... I suppose ... those squares.

BTW, AMAZON SUCKS!

Sony is so stupid, the FF VII psp probably sold out already, they were limited edition so their goes japan for sony's psp.

Yawn, I'm just waiting for the predictable posts...

I think I'm going to update some games.
