Forums - General - what am i doing wrong?

Ladder Theory is real. Those who don't believe will become its slave.

But Wikipedia is also a good source. Cross-checked with actual encyclopedias out there it is on average as accurate. But obviously, an article with no citations is probably full of BS.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Well...three years is a pretty long time. You may have been at fault for waiting so long.

Even still i'd think a proper best friend would float it past you first.

 Ladder Theory = Fake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladder_theory)

You're using Wikipedia to try and prove something is fake? On top of that you're using a Wikipedia source with absolutely no citations to prove it's fake? Very convincing. Ladder Theory is real my friend. D: That link NIKKOM provided proves it.

Onyxmeth. I know that you're a Mod and that you are able to ban me for standing up to you, but listen.

Ladder theory is a pseudoscientific theory that has no basis in Sociology, Psychology nor Anthropology. It has "never appeared in a referenced journal or scientific forum and its proponents cite no studies or data sets to support their conclusions" (like the wiki article pointed out).

Think of it as a internet humour thing. Don't take it serious. You are so much better than that. If other students here at campus were to mention 'Ladder T'. everyone would have a good laugh and we would have a good time talking about it. That's it.

Again. It's a humour thing.

i got it!

Nothing you have said proves it's fake. It merely tries to explain why someone shouldn't follow it. Here's the proof it's real: www.laddertheory.com

If you go there, you will encounter a website explaining the theory. That makes it real. If it were fake, you'd get rick rolled or maybe get an error screen. If you mean it's satire, thus proving it's fake, let me quote you something from the website explaining that:

Are you serious or is the site just satire?
Nothing is just satire.

I'm still contemplating whether I should ban you for standing up to me. Let me get back to you on that.

LOL.. Like there is anything in Sociology, Psychology or Anthropology that can explain the ways of the Art called Love...

Love is strange...

Yes. Think about that.

Naturally Onyxmeth, naturally. A hypothesis (especially those 'invented' by nonscholars outside of Academia) has it's burden of proof lying clustered to the observer party.

"necessitas probandi incumbit ei qui agit"

I read from your profile that you're 24. Let's be rational.
When debating with an educated user, a Mod should never raise 'the stakes' nor invest personal prestige by making the subject matter personal. It will only end in loss of prestige. Agree?
