Forums - Nintendo - Project H.A.M.M.E.R officially cancelled.

I'd like to deliver some bad news myself... hmm... yeah it's a nice feeling

Project H.A.M.M.E.R. isn't on hold. It's been cancelled. Finished. So say Famitsu in their latest issue, which feels like the Coast Guard announcing they've given up the search for a man (with a giant hammer) lost at sea. I for one liked the basic premise, mainly because it reminded me of old Capcom side-scrollers, but I guess some things just can't be saved. Rest in Peace, big fella. - LUKE PLUNKETT (www.kotaku.com)

That is to bad. It sounded like a fun concept. Who wouldn't like smashing things with a large hammer?

Meh, being canceled after this long in development means it was a terrible game and everyone knew it so good riddance.

Famitsu claiming the game is cancelled really isn't "official" per say, still more than likely is canned though.

Whatever they diverted those resources to better be good. Retro Studios cancelled a total of four titles, at least one of which looked very decent, to work on the original Metroid Prime, so it sometimes works out well.

This time the developer doesn't look all that promising though.

NST is a US studio for Nintendo and their goal is to create US style software. If you'll note according to Famitsu, it's only been canceled in Japan.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Wait... I thought this was officially cancelled months ago.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Oh.
So...possible in US still?

If not, it must have been a gimmicky game, or one that could be fun for a while, but not for too long. Nintendo does have strict quality control...

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Khem... no one cares? I've started this topic to hear some mourning... Are you without heart? Wii is doomed that was one of the most important hard core titles... C'mon guys !  Give me some satisfaction ! ! Yeah it's not Mario but still ! You certainly miss this game !

My guess is it was great fun to smash things up with a vertual hammer, for an hour, and then the novelty wore off.

After another couple hours, people probably wanted to press buttons instead of continually swinging thier arms.

If they couldn't resolve that and make it fun, I can understand it being cancelled. Too bad though. Would've been a great rental at any rate.
