this is wal mart we are talking about. I'm sure that is exactly what they did. Somebody returned a broken one and instead of sending it off they put it back on the shelf and you bought it. That is what happens when you shop at wal mart. Next time make the smart decision and shop at a real game store.

What do you think, bud? it's obviously used in the state that it is, do you really need to ask?

k thnx

My guess would be, abused console breaks (deep scratches on case? indicates owner didn't care/was careless).

Owner goes to Walmart, buys another, switches broken console with new console and returns it.

You buy "new" PS3 and have just bought previous owner's broken console, complete with custom scratched case.

Check the serial number/manufacture date if you're curious. I wouldn't be surprised if it was an older console (or it could have just been a newer console that was dropped/whatever , then swapped with a new console and returned).

Hey everyone.

Tonight my brother bought a Ps3 from Wal-Mart. First off, when we opened it up, we noticed that the Ps3 was scratched and scuffed up. WTF? "Is it used? what the hell is this crap...look how deep that scratch is" he said... So he said he would return it tommorow, but figured we would hook it up to play tonight. We hook the Ps3 up to the TV, hook up the audio, then plug in the Ps3 to the power outlet. I turn the power on at the back, then press power in the front.

Red light, quickly turns to a yellow light. This is supposedly a BRAND NEW Ps3. But like I said, it was scratched and everything. Is it possible that Wal Mart sold me a USED+BROKEN Ps3?

Here's my guess: Someone had their ps3 break. They didn't want to pay Sony $150 to fix it out of warranty. Wal-mart has a lax return policy so they bought a new unit from wal-mart, swapped their broken ps3 into the box and returned it. Your brother got an old PS3. Check the model #, it's probably not even the right model.

They have a 30 day return policy for store credit with reciept iirc. I bought a 40gb Ps3 then returned it a few days later to get a 60gb after I found out it had no B/C and they didn't mind. Also opened my copy of Assassins Creed then returned it with the 40gb Ps3.

Gamestation here in the UK tried to do that one with R2, I must have "retarded cancerous turd" written on my shirt because the disc looked like it had been scewed by a dog yet tried convincing me that it was new.

Always purchase games online to guarantee they are new and simply give your PS3 back and get a replacement. These companies are always hoping some poor soul does not know it is used and are stuck with a used faulty product which they paid full price for.
