I doubt MHG will have any considerable effect. I wouldn't be surprised if PS3 manages to beat the Wii the week MHG gets released.

To put it shortly, Wii will remain with bad sales, head to head with the PS3 until WSR arrives, even then, sales could dip really fast, since we don't know how big the WSR boost/effect will be. If Nintendo plans on promoting M+ with only a casual game, then it will probably fail terribly there. It's really stupid to launch an accessory with only one part of the audience in mind. As you can see what's keeping the Wii at abysmal levels is the lack of core content. Having 2 big games to sell M+ would be a better idea, one for the casual audience and one for the core audience, but I'm not fooling anyone here, I doubt we will see another WM+ game from Nintendo until 2010 at the earliest.

Wii Fit says hi

Hmm what is it now? 10-15 threads a week like this?

YAWN....

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

O man.... now there's going to be 3 or 4 "why the Wii hate threads" because of this thread...

I think people are starting to realize that their aren't that many great games for the Wii, that and the Wii is focused on the younger generation, and it's true, ya it comes out with a few kickass games (for the hardcore Nintendo fans), but the Wii's "focus" is on the younger crowd..

Don't believe me.. look at the games, if that doesn't do you justice go hang out in a Wii Game section for 30min, see how many kids are in that section with their parents, or just Soccer moms picking up a birthday present...

And the 3rd party games need to just be better, plain and simple..

excuse me, I have to go clean out my inbox to make room for the hate mail..

so based on what you stated, how is it going to affect the sales for Wii in Japan and WW? Do you expect PS3 outsells Wii in Japan this year? Do you expect PS3 or 360 outsells Wii WW this year? this holiday season?

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Yeah, that's what casuals bought. Yet it's the only game that supports Balance board that sold that well in Japan. The rest of the games didn't fare too well. Had they released Wii Fit along a balance board core supported game and sales would have been even higher. I mean, they are just releasing Punch-Out! 1 and a half years after the balance board was launched. And same can be said about Wii Speak, the only game that supports it is a casual game, and no other game does. Will be 2010 before they do something about it.

People lose interest in peripherals if there's nothing else to use them on. Core gamers more than anyone. But Nintendo never supported their peripherals and I don't think they ever will.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Japan are hardcore gamers. The wii have good games but not games that 20-30 year old people want to play. I had a wii once but only for Mario Galaxy. I been a Mario fan since the NES so I will buy a Nintendo console just for Mario and then sale it. There is no other games I want to play on the wii.

Interesting why Japan casual game market is in shambles due to recession, but NA and EU not.

im not surprised they released all there good 1st party games all at once

its time for the ps3 to take over a region anyway and Japan will be it

Your point was that you couldn't see WSR with M+ having a long term boost on sales. Wii Fit has done that for a long time, and WSR caters to the casual audience that went wild for Wii Sports. M+ and WSR could easily carry Nintendo through the rest of the year. Take that into consideration along with at least 2 games in the works for release this year that have stated they will use M+ in their games. Thus, already more planned use than the balance board.
