Eh, i think the mass exodus has already happened. I don't think Nintendo can dig themselves in any deeper when it comes to the opinion of the "core gamer." They crossed the line last year for that crowd, and that's the end of it. If they did the exact same thing this year, by just showing a heavily casual-ized Pikmin 3 and revealing Wii Fit Plus as their big game, i guarantee that the response won't be as bad as it was last year
Basically, everyone's already set their opinion about the Wii. The people who are saying "they damn well better unveil X or i'm selling my Wii" have more or less already made up their mind, and are just letting wishful thinking fill out the rest.
Nintendo has a few luxuries to guarantee that a large number of core gamers pretty much have to buy their system, and the "normal" (middle of the road) gamers who buy their system seem to be purchasing the bulk of the software, with the pure casuals filling things out nicely. They clearly have their core, the people who populate this board, for instance, who are perfectly satisfied with Wii as their preferred/only system, and it'll be hard for them to disappoint these people too severely.
At this point in the generation, everything's already in motion.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
