Forums - Nintendo - A lot is riding on Nintendo's E3 conference.

I have been thinking about Anti-Wii Week, and it really is just a sample.  A sample of what happens when Nintendo slips up once, even when it is the consumers doing and not theirs.

But E3.... if the "black lightning" strikes twice, and Nintendo's presentation and subsequent announcements are subpar, we're looking at a mass exodus of hardcore gamers here. I don't make up cockamamie stories for the sake of hits, but I'd imagine a negative reaction in this stage of the game would prove disastrous.

Nintendo could get by with new Wii owners and casual games, no doubt. But for me personally, I wouldn't give them another dime until Zelda Wii at that point.

Honestly, I doubt there's many core gamers with only a Wii left to exodus.

I also doubt Nintendo can produce enough core games to keep their core base while still making casual ones too.

I think Nintendo accepts they have to share the core with HD systems but can enjoy the more massive casual market all by themselves.

Therefore while you might get a bone at E3, don't expect steak.

All I know is, If Reggie came on stage and juggled for an hour it would still be better than last year's E3.

Not really. For the core gamer perhaps, but Nintendo themselves can do whatever they want really. They have said the show will be better than last year, which should be enough for every Wii core gamer to get some kind of satisfaction, and if they don't, they will probably come back once Nintendo makes another Zelda game.

Reggie could juggle 8 torchs and 11 swords for about three weeks without messing up once.

But you're underestimating Nintendo fans. There are not only "core" and "casual" gamers, that's stupid. There are all kinds of different gamers, and particularly strong sub-group is Nintendo fans. Even if Nintendo didn't announce a single huge first party "core" game (which, trust me, they will), Nintento fans aren't going to "abandon" the Wii. There's plenty of DS games to bridge the gap.

dont get hyped up,

remember nintendo last year @ E3

You should be beaten, burned to ashes then someone should throw your ashes from a plane

No, there is not much that is riding on Nintendo's E3. Journalist have been writing doom and gloom articles about the Wii since this gen began. We've already heard that 3rd party games do not sell on the Wii and we've heard that core games do not sell on the Wii and finally we've heard that Nintendo will introduce the Wii HD in 2011. By now, we should have learned not to take what journalist write or say because the seem to write more about speculation than fact.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

as long as they announce zelda wii or f-zero wii I`m satisfief

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!

bet with *no one yet* that the combined first week of Monster Hunter 3 in america and europe will be 600k or more! winner changes looser sig and avatar for two months!

E3 is irrelevant as are core gamers to the Wii. It would be nice if Ninty unveiled one or two core games but hope is the first step on the road to disappointment. Just except the fact you don't matter to Nintendo anymore and then be pleasantly surprised when they do actually say something and unveil whatever it is that they unveil.
