Forums - Sales - PS3 still losing money?

http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/technology/article6115103.ece

“We have been in this phase where the more we sell, the more money we lose but we are beginning to pass that. The energy of this machine and its relationship with the content business will get better.”

So a pricecut will be one step back in terms of trying to earn money but on the other hand.......if they don't the gap will increase each week.

Hard times. A miracle is required for a 100 dollar cut this year, wonder waht changes they have to do to slash costs.

Predictions for 2009:

360: 39-42 PS3: 31-34 Wii: 67-70

Future projection

Wii will hit 100 million before christmas 2010 (made december 2008)

NDS Family will have sold and shipped more then PS2 at the end of 2009 (made january 2009)

I think they are doing pretty good right now. The sales aren't that pretty bad. They are really working towards gain profability with the PS3. I think when the time is right, Sony will cut the price of the PS3.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

Well yeah. I mean that was pretty obvious looking at their financials.

Of course it is. Not as much as before, but it's still substantial.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Tag, courtesy of fkusumot: "Why do most of the PS3 fanboys have avatars that looks totally pissed?"
"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

i hope they still have a net sales

I say it'll be more cost effective to just keep cranking out more and more 1st party titles until the manufacturing costs go down.

Did they post last quarter already? I think I missed on that thread.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

I wish this economy was around when Dreamcast was fighing the PS2 in 2000...

$149 DC with much bigger and better library of games and other perks not found anywhere else like Online gaming
vs
$299 DVD player with promises of MGS2 and FF10 in the future

By september they probably will break even, and maybe even make $2 of profit, but they do not need a price cut, they need to keep releasing more first party titles and gain more exclusives

price cut or not price cut . people wll buy wiis . sony knows that too.
