Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's Pikmin to outsell major Sony and Microsoft games.

I doubt pikmin wii would sell better than all of those games.

Given that Pikmin franchises is a little too cutesy for a signifcant pack of Nintendo's loyal group and that it's a little bit more complicated than Mario Kart Wii and all of Nintendo's first party titles that have sold well (It's an RTS game after all), I'm not so sure it'll fair as well as Mario Kart Wii in romping the competition.

it can happen!!

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Is Pikmin THAT popular with the masses?

^No. Which is why I say that it has no chance against these games - perhaps the only game it can outsell is Heavy Rain.

Pikmin hasn't been popular with the masses yet, but Nintendo have learnt alot in the last couple of years. I'm not sure if it'll outsell all those big games the OP mentioned, but I do think it will double the sales of the original Pikmin, give or take. The series is very popular in Japan, and with the right marketing it could reach a wide audience. I'd never have expected Animal Crossing to be the success it was on the DS, or for Mario Kart Wii to outsell Halo 3 and GTAIV. People still won't accept the industry is different now... With that in mind, I think Pikmin will be successful. Will it outsell some of Sony and Microsoft's biggest titles? Only time will tell. But I would never rule it out categorically. If any company can make a game about tiny plant people and an astronaut (in the form of an RTS) a mass market hit, then it will be Nintendo that does it.

Nintendo said they want to make pikmin popular with the masses, that's why they made those 2 remakes on the wii. They will also market it better and the game will def be a lot better then it's counterparts. It will beat some games you listed.

people were saying the same thing with games like mario kart wii and halo 3 last year.

anything can happen.

The difference being Mario Kart has always been a huge seller on Nintendo platforms. Pikmin however is not as huge of a franchise. I hope a Pikmin 3 is announced myself I loved the last 2 but thats a bit of what I call Fanboyism by sayign this is guaranteed to beat any major releases this year from Sony and Microsoft.  I would rather they announced a new Zelda Wii or finally announce Kid Icarus Wii.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

It wouldn't sell all that well. Pikmin 2's sales were less than Pimin 1, and new Play Control Pikmin has only sold 310,000 (quite a far pace from Uncharted's 2.6 million)

Heavens to Murgatoids.

The last Pikmin barely scraped past a million and the Wii ports aren't doing too well.
Pikmin isn't like Mario Kart. It won't benefit much from the expanded audience. Just look at Metroid Prime 3.

That, and um... Halo ODST? Not to mention the possibility of GT5 this year.

Pikmin although great isn't that big of a series. It will probably see the same success as wii music and Animal Crossing.

Unless all the games you mentioned crash and burn, Pikmin won't be beating very many of them.
