Forums - Gaming - Which Gaming Franchise Has the Largest Core Fanbase?

Outlaw and I were talking today and when we were talking about First Day Japan Sales (funny Deac Sports 2 sales and good FF13 sales) he stated that he would think that Final Fantasy had the largest core fanbase.  Essentially the loyay fans of the series who support it till the end.  I thought about it for awhile and the only other thing I could think of that would up there was Pokemon which was my answer to the question.

So what franchise do ya'll think has the largest core fanbase.  I had to think about it for awhile but Pokemon and Final Fantasy we kind of agree were pretty far up there if not the top 2.  What series are up there with it?

Yeah I'll say Final Fantasy, but you already know what franchise I'd support until the end...

donkey kong country or halo

Maybe Dragon Quest.

Mario. And maybe a lot of old Nintendo franchises.

Also, I agree with FF.

A main Final Fantasy title will, without fail, sell at least 5 million.

Halo also has a case, but its a fairly new game.

Pokemon main games dominate but the console ones sell pretty bad in comparison. However, FFT sold 2.5 million and Crisis Core is over 2 million.

So the spin offs and not entirely real FFs have still sold well.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

It has to be Mario, all others dont measure up
