Forums - Website Topics - Do people create alt accounts to breed hate????

I think people create alt accounts so they can say things they wouldn't or couldn't say with their real/main account.

It is a truly wonderful thing to feel like you can speak your mind under your main account.

But can't alt accounts be banned by IP address?

Indeed. When I created an alt to mock somebody, I got banned and my IP got banned...I think..I dunno. Looking back, I deserved the ban for exceeding my normal level of being a jackass...

I believe alternate/ghost accounts are created by users who are annoyed that they were banned and they come back bitter and twisted during their time of banishment to haunt the site and they troll the forum sites.

Haha, that's hilarious. I didn't think you were the type (from the posts I've read of yours, anyway).

Anyway, I'd say the answer to the title is "yes." Anything that grants one anonymity will lead to this sort of stuff, and unfortunately, many people will fall for it, every time. I think if it can be brought to attention that the perpetrator is likely a fake (easy when it's a new account), the reasonable people won't fall for it. I guess that's all you can do.

People are anonymous on the internet and they like to mess around just for kicks and the creation of alternate/ghost accounts is a way of just rebelling against the moderators of the forum site who banned them.

IP bans only temporarily stop people they do not work effectively. They only work with static IP numbers. Most of the world have floating/dynamic IP addresses. Resetting router or modem or would change the IP number to a unique number and circumventing the IP ban from whatever site they were banned from.

yes i believe so

your IP address changes, an IP ban is only temporary
