Forums - Sony - ok screw it i'm saying it HAZE WAS GOOD

Yes, I think Haze and Lair were decent games, actually well better than various multi-platform games which were rated well higher.

I think the reviewers failed here, for whatever reasons that may have been. They are both enjoyable (IMO Lair is more enjoyable with motion sensing enabled!).

The demo was awful and killed any chance of me buying this game. The graphics were well below average, even at the time it was released. I didn't really like the necter gameplay mechanic. The biggest problem I had was the voice acting/dialog. I can overlook a lot, but terrible voice acting just grates on my nerves.

Glad you liked it, and 750k is not as bad as it should have been. Certainly better sales than other highly hyped games that didn't live up to expectations.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

I think they underestimated the high standards expected for PS3 games, wanting to achieve too much (especially Lair) in too little time. Both titles thus lack polishment.

I think they should have made these titles for the Wii first, even with well worse graphics these games would probably have gotten better reception (and in the background develop a better PS3 version, taking all the time needed to achieve something eyecatching and advanced technically).

750k is far from impresive considering i can go to shop and buy it for 8 euro equvalent.

I think that may be very close to a unique opinion...

Have you played the game?

IMO it adds well to the experience and I had absolutely no issues with regard to the dragon responding the way as intended within a timely fashion. (Almost made me think some reviewers may have broken controllers or something)

Lair has very divided oppinions on gaming sites. But if you look at the posts, you get the feeling that most of the people that didn't like the game did so based on the reviews and did not play the game themselves. I for one have found MANY oppinions that were favorable to the game. Will have to get it from someone to try before by :P.

I thought it was an ok game. I also really don't think that's what killed the company.... I noticed the sales a while back... I think people are just quick to blame HD games....

People will use anything that fuels their agenda while conviniently ignoring things that are against it :)

I have only played it briefly on a friends console I will admit... but the motion controls were switched off after about 10 seconds. Had some nice animation in there though.

Just looked up some user reviews on metacritic regarding the controls and no my opinion seems far from unique:

1) "I don't know why so many critics had problems with the motion control"

2) "You should definitely keep the sixaxis controls in tact because they really add to the entire experience."

3) "I dont know why everyone is blaming the controls because: 1. you have a tutorial to practise the controls for however much you want. 2. The controls work fine, it is a bit more difficult to get used to very precise, minute movements which an analog stick would provide, but this game makes you feel like a real dragon rider."

4) "Once you get used to the Playstation 3's Sixaxis controls (I'll admit, it took me a couple levels) it really becomes intuitive and easy to play. Having completed this game I think it wouldn't have been nearly as good without the Sixaxis."

5) "Learning curve was not needed. I understood the controls and targeting system rather quickly."

6) "There is nothing wrong with the control of this game"

7) "The controls are not at all hard, and really seem to pull you into the game even more. "

8) "with a little patience and exploration this game is very enjoyable the sixaxis controls were perfect for me"

9) "The sixaxis works great, allthough it takes some practice to completely control the dragon. Enjoy!"

10) "Also, the control scheme (I may be the only one, but I think they are great)."

And that's only halfway through, through the first page of user reviews.

It seems that actually a vast majority of Lair gamers share this perspective!
