The effects of Past racism linger on today but that does not make todays problems due to current racism.

Yes they do! Everything stems from slavery, everything!

By trying to make up for it with restitution you only prolong the problems of today.

Who the **** told you that?! Your opinion is that we should say to black people, "oops", and then continue to be biased towards them?!?

Affirmitive Action does hurt education... but not the point I was making.  The point I was making was that the problems African Americans suffer has nothing to do with present racial differences and everything to do with current economic and cultural differnces.

Those cultural and economic differences come from slavery! What is your deal!??

Lets say your family and my family are having a competition to see who could make the  most sand castles.

So... our grandparents start the competion.

Your Grandparents have a shovel and bucket.

It's illegal for my grandparents to have a shovel and bucket....  Your Grandpa gets a big lead.

Our Fathers start... my Father is now allowed to own a bucket.  No shovel though.  He goes and buys it.  Your father takes advantage.

Now we go.  We're both equal at this point in tools.  You have a huge head start in sandcastles.

My problems with your lead has nothing to do with current racism.

First of all, why the fuck is your family the black one!? You clearly have no comprehension of being at a disadvantage. Because if you did you would not be making any of the points that you are.

Second, I will entertain this ridiculous scenario just to get this through to you:

We would not be equal, because your family would not have had the experience or skill with building sand castles that I have already obtained lol.

Now, if you managed to build a sand castle to rival mine, even with your setbacks, we should, in all fairness, get a professional judge (AA) to see who is more ready to build sandcastles for a living.

My GF (who is black), is sitting right next to me and laughing so much. She says "thank you Kazs216, I can see now that racism is my fault".

So your saying no black person is against Affirmitive Action... well that's just not true.

When wealth is the same... outcome is the same.

I agree that sexism is more prevalent in our society these days than racism. And we talk about it a lot less.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

The point you were missing their Prof.

White Women and Black Women make about the same amount of money.

Being a Black Woman seems to hold extra negatives.

The problems with medians is they don't account for craploads of effects.

Like transitive wealth.  Transitive wealth is the biggest problem Black people have.  It's also the biggest problem all poor people have.

You can't just call slavery "transitive assets". Blacks have always been at a disadvantage and are still at a disadvantage and until that is rectified, being in denial of racism isn't going to help the situation.

White man > black man

V

White woman > black woman

women make less than men

blacks make less than whites.

the data is not incorrect, but your interpretation is. Transitive wealth is denied because of slavery.

For example... watch the documentry "Race: The Power of Illusion"

When wealth is equal. Outcome tends to be equal.

WEALTH is the issue.

YES

Wealth that was denied for hundreds of years and is still not equal! Why can't you admit that?

Now you're just making stuff up. I never said that.

When wealth is the same... outcome is the same.

So then how do we make wealth the same genius?

I never said Racism is black peoples fault. You seem to not undestand the underlying problem. It's not based on current racism.

It's transitive wealth.

Read for example

“The Hidden Cost of Being African American” by Thomas Shapiro. Affimtive Action does nothing to combat transitive wealth.

Affirmitive Action just sets black families to gain... only to backslide right back... due to lack of transitive wealth.

Black people with similar credit scores are 60% more likely to be denied loans. Not because of their race... but because their families on average doesn't have the transitive wealth to back up those loans.

When you compare statistics based on transitive wealth... basically all factors even out.

I can admit that... it's what i've been saying this entire time.

That has nothing to do with current racism.  Why can't you admit that?

You are simply rebranding slavery as transitive wealth.

White people have experience dealing with money and legacies and long families. You can't deny a black person equal rights just because you think it's a waste of money that you could be using.

Loans are a different subject, don't try to tie that into job application and school admittance
.

When you compare statistics based on transitive wealth... basically all factors even out.

It does. Like I said earlier, 90% of applications of any kind are easier for a white male than a black male. 78 cents on the dollar. IMplicit Association testing, scores upon scores of literature.

Yes, "transitional assets" do play an important factor, but racism still goes on nowadays and I can't believe you are denying that.
