^I am pretty sure Microsoft and Sony are both starting to go positive. Doesn't mean they have gained the money back yet.

It wasn't just Pachter noting it. Back when each edition had a seperate bundle you could track which was theoretically selling best by looking at the sales of those titles. The Arcade model wasn't selling significantly more than either of the other 2 SKU's
The rEVOLution is not being televised
I'm gonna have to side with the Microsoft guys on this one.. Besides Microsoft are now making money off of the 360 unlike Sony which has the PSP and PS2 covering for it yet still making MASSIVE losses. The PS3 will sell for longer by neccessity for Sony to try curb the losses but in the end even if it does make it to 2nd place, Microsoft will be the one on the up.

pathetic response . and its more like 6billion. not 2. but hey its ok to have shitty business practices that lose money.... oh wait... why does sony gett shit from it all day? double standards ftw! |
You like to respond quickly without thinking don't you. One company made profit last year the other didn't, now tell me which has bad business practices. A pathetic argument once again from you although you'll fling insults now to hide you've just shot yourself in the foot. Microsoft may lose some money in their gaming division but the extra exposure they've gotten from the Xbox brand combined with the weakening of Sony is probably more than worth 6 billion. Do you have shares in Sony because you get awfully shirty when people mention how much they're bleeding money.

I think he said that the average selling price of 360s is slightly under the Pro's price.
Not exactly the same thing: that means that more Arcades are sold than Elites, but doesn't tell us anything abou the number of Pros.
I feel disapointed I was thinking Wii loving americans would at least buy those 750k DSi and 200k Wiis :D

If weekly sales of games are to be noted, then Wii/DS owners seldom ever buy anything on the first day, first week or first month.
Pixel Art can be fun.

Microsoft is a multibillion dollar company and makes so much more money than they lose. However, Sony as a whole are posting losses right now. Also, might I add, that Microsoft's gaming division has started posting profits now - Something Sony have not. You can call it double standards, pathetic excuses, whatever you like. But the fact of the matter is, Microsoft can take losing loads of cash. Sony can't. And at the moment, Sony are losing a lot more than Microsoft are.

Sony as a whole posted losses because of shitty economy and the Yen. (which BTW has started to not be so bad.) have yo so quickly forgotten the 4million profit SCE posted? people where expecting at least 500million loss. obviously isnt doing as bad as most thought. especially if you consider the extra 1million units in overshipments(of ps3s). no matter how you spin it losing money is bad. you think i should wipe my ass with 5s and 10s just because ' i can afford to'
MS came into the industry to be number 1, both MS and Sony thought Nintendo would not be a threat and look what happened. Then MS and Sony had to lower the bounderies and since then have been competing against each other, both know Nintendo is on another level.
Anyone under the belief that MS came to this generation just to beat Sony so they did not "take over the lounge" needs to lay off the magic mushrooms. That or MS have very low standards, just like those who purchased a console with a 1 in 3 chance of failing.....like me. :/
