Square Enix announces Order of War + First screenshots

Square Enix Ltd., the publisher of Square Enix interactive entertainment products in Europe and other PAL territories, today announces a new agreement with strategy game specialist Wargaming.net to publish a brand new IP set during World War II. ORDER OF WAR will be released on Windows PC across all PAL territories in Autumn 2009.

ORDER OF WAR will feature massive scale battles brought to life with a cinematic intensity never seen before in a WWII strategy game. Players will take command of an entire army including ground troops, artillery, tank divisions and aircraft in all out strategic assaults. The single-player mode can be played out in two campaigns – American versus German forces on the western front and German versus Russian on the eastern front – missions will be based on key historic events and operations from 1944.

ORDER OF WAR will be Square Enix's first release of a western developed game outside of Japan, and one which will see the company release the title simultaneously across multiple territories.

Well, Square didn't develop this though, or am I wrong? That write-up is pretty confusing.

Misleading title. It's not developed by SE.

Other than that, there are a lot of games like that on PC. So I dont know. Probably is going to be a solid game. It's surprising that Square has such an interest in PC RTS genre - Supreme Commander 2 and now this.

360 port anyone?

Pixel Art can be fun.

What about Supreme Commander 2? That'll be published by Squeenix too, and was announced months ago

RTS or shooter????

4 ≈ One

they're just publishing it... bah..

and talking about Square and PC, I think we can say that The Last Remnant seems to be a success. either a reasonable amount of people bought it (and are still buying), or the people that buy it play it a LOT. that is according to Steam stats, which have questionable reliability. the level of the success is also unknown, it's not in the same level of Empire: Total War, but it's among the top 20 most played, I think it means something. I mean, it should mean something, right? :P

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!
