Forums - Sales - MadWorld is now at 170k!

I was going to post something else, but this is a fairly bitter thread.
So, I'll just post this comment instead.

Rent it! Or wait for a price drop. That shit aint worth $50 I think it might have gotten price drop though.

I dont care for this game or its sales. I also dont think it was a flop. Monster Hunter 3 or Punch Out. Those games can be considered flops if they sell bad not this. it got wierd shitty ads. And internet hype really dont do shit for a game........most of the time.

Valkyria Chronicles internet hypes seems to have helped lol.

Anyways it should makes its money back easily. If you played it you know it wasnt expensive.

My God folks, what is soooo wrong with MadWorld? Why all the negativity for it?

There's little wrong with the game per se; it's just feeling the burden of unrealistic hype.

It's just that it seems as if people are judging the game based on these sales, and that's a shame. Hasn't it already been determined that sales =/= quality?

The ironic thing is that Wii fanboys (not fans, fanboys) are continually saying that sales are a measure of quality, and now they're saying the exact opposite. Pretty funny, actually.

No one said that but you.

Considering the heavy price drops i've been seeing within a week of Madworlds release ,it's going to need alot more than 170k to even break even.

Since when did we celebrate such small sales figures regardless of platform ?

That's not even the issue.  What it is actually was that MadWorld was the annointed game by the press and people who generally are Wii-detractors, who wanted to use it - a niche, Clover game - as the poster child for how an M-rated game would sell on the Wii - ignoring CoD:WaW, RE:UC, etc...

That's what it is.

So it's beat out Fracture, Folklore, Legendary, X-Blades, Blacksite Area 51, etc...

I think those are pretty good comparisons (mostly) multiplat games on the HD consoles with similar or more marketing.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

LOL similar marketing , please stop spewing garbage/lies .  I haven't even heard of any of those games apart from folkore through word of mouth . I could list hundreds of Wii games which were outsold by a particular HD title and claim they had similar marketing but what significance would that have if I couldn't really proove it ?

Also taking into consdiration the fact that the games you've chosen are from different genre's released at different times in this generation and there's a strong case for ignoring your post.

That's not my fault that you do not know very much about video games or the gaming industry.

Fracture is a Lucas Arts game that had tons of TV, internet, and print ads.  One of the major gaming websites was Fracture themed for weeks, with the screen shaking.

Folklore had very little advertising.

Legendary has had lots of Television ads on cable and weekly videos on Gametrailers for months from the day it was announced as Legendary: The Box.

Blacksite Area 51 had lots of TV and internet advertising.

X-Blades you may be right about.

Legendary and Fracture were both games being hyped as FPS with a twist, something high-brow gamers have been bitching about not getting for a while.  Of course, like M-rated games on Wii and DS, a new style game on HD consoles may get a lot of requests but when it appears, no one buys.

The reason why Mad World has gotten more buzz with out all the marketing dollars being spent is that it is one of very few games on Wii that caters to (infantile) adults.

right lets settle this.

1. i dont think there was a price drop, checked at my local gamestation and the price is back up to £35

2. the best comparison with madworld in god hand. according to NPD madoworld sold 50% more than godhand in its first month

now just give it a couple of years to hit 400k which should do well

PS. Notice how that guy who said madoworld need to reach 2-3 million to make profit got owned. He told use that the HD console ar ethe one which sell software.Yet his game failed to chart anywhere in NPD and is a movie tie in. nice
